My main question is about the effect of Army ROTC on job prospects after graduation. I am looking into the Army ROTC program at UPenn (through Drexel) right now. In the Army ROTC program, there are three commissioning opportunities: Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard. I have by no means decided which path I would want to take, but I want to look at the various options. My intention is to serve my country while I am young, but for the most part have a civilan career. There is the possibility that I can commission into the Reserves or National Guard and start a civilian career at the same time. This is just one of the many options I am looking at.
If I was in the Reserves or National Guard after graduating UPenn, how does that affect employment opportunties though? I would have trainings about one weekend a month and two weeks in the summer. I've heard that some employers look negatively at this, but is that true? And if it is, is that a minority or majority of employers? My main concern is that if I did take the Reserves/National Guard route that I would have a hard time finding a job that other Wharton graduates would normally be able to get. Would I be way less competive or attractive to an employer?
