Is anyone else going to roundup? I am out of state and I definitely plan on rushing but I am terrified. I know that its harder for girls out of state but I am trying to do the best I can to prepare. Does anyone have any comments on sorority rush or roundup in general?

Round up isn’t rush. What you do there does not affect you Rushing in August. You don’t have to go at all, most people don’t. But it’s super fun.

Yeah I am going because it is fun, but I know that I need to watch myself so I dont make a bad impression. I know it isnt a part of formal rush, but I also know that as an out of state student I need to make as many connections as I can.

Eastcoast…roundup is definitly a fraternity rush event ,but the sororities will have thier own much smaller events at thier houses. The most important thing is to make sure that you dont do anything that will hurt your chances with the sororities such as drinking too much or talking to someone’s boyfriend :). My D did not go last year but her roomate did. I think it was beneficial for the roomate because she was able to make some connections before formal recruitment in August. Unfortunatly alot of the recruitment process hinges on who you know in the houses. The UT panhellenic advises potential new members against going…so you will have to make your own determination.

Can someone give a rundown of what Roundup is like for guys, in terms of fraternity rushing?

I too would like to learn more about the whole fraternity process. I’m OOS from CA and was wondering when and what I should do to begin my fraternity-joining process. I know I definitely want to join one, but all of these terms they use (rush, roundup, etc.) really confuses the hell out of me.

There are some old threads that have a ton of information. I wrote a bunch of stuff, having had two sons join fraternities at UT. I’d look it up for you, but I’m at work, and am just on for a sec! Just look through the archives and you’ll find info.

Good luck! - I do recommend you going to Roundup, it’s a great opportunity to make connections, but know that you are being watched ;).

Im from houston and i am going to rush this summer/fall at UT. I already contacted some fraternities and have been invited to roundup. The only delima I am having with going is that i would be going alone. Do most people go alone or with a group of friends? Is it ok to go alone or is it better to just skip it?

Hell yeah for roundup! See y’all there ;)
