Why aren't there routine maintenance checks in the dorms to make sure the heat is operating properly in all of the rooms???? It is freezing there tonight.

I would imagine nobody on this board has an answer to this question, since the readership consists of high school students who are considering colleges,
current students, parents, and alums, none of whom work for university housing.

But that’s just my guess, perhaps you had a different notion?

But actually, thinking about it, I recall having radiator problems at a couple places I’ve lived over the years, and I don’t think the landlords there did any “routine maintenance checks”, to see if a particular radiator in one particular room happened to have an air bubble trapped or something. When it didn’t work, I squawked, and then they came and fixed it. The first guy showed me how to bleed the darned thing myself, never needed him again.

They didn’t proactively check that all the light bulbs are working either. I hate that, when I get to a hotel room and there are light bulbs out. Why didn’t the hotel proactively check before I got there?

So I’m sure they check the heating system as a whole but maybe they don’t do “routine maintenance checks” of each radiator in every dorm room.

But, as I noted in #2 above, I doubt anyone here really knows what they actually do in this regard.

having staff members routinely work their way into each individual dorm room solely to feel if each heat radiator is working seems a bit ridiculous, no? If something is broken, call to have housing fix it.

Cadmiumred is obviously paying tuition to hire someone to do menial tasks and break student privacy in the process.
