I'm transferring to Rowan 2010 for fall semester. I wanted to know how are the parties..good, bad, mediocre..and how is the social scene other than the parties? And also what are the best dorms (not including Rowan Boulevard)? Ive heard the townhouses look the best..what dorms have the most fun? Thanks

Can anyone help?!?!

I’m a “re-admit” student (dropped out after enjoying my first stint a little too much). Lived on campus in three different dorms, knew people in most of the majors, went Greek, etc. Here’s my best rundown for you.

ROOMS:

Mimosa: DO NOT LIVE THERE. I lived on the first and fourth floors, and the place was a joke. I’m about 5’8", and the shower head was at about chin-level. Then again, the same was true in my third dorm as well. The only plus was that I was closer to the academic buildings where I had classes that first year (mostly Robinson & Wilson).

Willow: Had a single on the 1st floor (since converted to an RA room). It wasn’t bad.

Evergreen: Meh. Definitely the largest of my rooms, with a bathroom shared with the room next door instead of with a “suite” of 3-5 rooms.

The townhouses and Rowan Boulevard apartments look amazing, but I’ve never set foot in them. They were built after I moved off-campus.

SOCIAL:

A lot of changes have been made since I was first an undergrad. I was a regular at the Phi Kappa Sigma, Sigma Pi, Alpha Chi Rho, Theta Chi, Kappa Sigma and Delta Chi parties - had friends in each of those fraternities. The houses have since been demolished, but some of the fraternities still exist.

Here’s the list of current organizations:
[All Greek Chapters](http://www.rowan.edu/clubs/greeklife/councilsAndChapters/AllGreekChapters.htm)

These Greek organizations have all lost their “recognized” status - got booted for hazing, alcohol policy violations, etc.

- Delta Kappa Epsilon

- Theta Chi

Greek life is not for everyone (I’m an Alpha Phi Omega brother), so there are plenty of other ways to meet people. SGA has movies every week, the dorms have social areas, and there are a ton of student organizations. I had friends on WGLS, RTN, the EMS squad, the football team, choir, theater groups. It’s a matter of being willing to get involved, and it’s far easier as a resident than as a commuter. With my commute, I’m usually more interested in getting home than I am in hanging around after class, but my days as a resident rank up there with some of the best times I’ve had, and I met some of my closest friends by both pledging and by just getting to know classmates.

Good luck!
