Also, thanks @radiant! That’s so sweet!
@ritikulous Thanks! And best of luck to you too!
I also put biology (computational biology) and chemistry (physical chemistry) for the research fields.
Might be a little early for this question but does anyone know when the admissions decisions come out? Late February, March?
I think March. Not 100% sure tho.
been waiting a whole year to apply and was just told I’m not allowed to since I don’t have pernament residency where I go to school. I was halfway done with my essays too D’:
Oh gosh… are you not an American citizen?
Aww, that sucks @sumguy
Also I just checked past threads and last year they came out around Feb 27, which is earlier than usual. The year before they came out around March 17 I think.
Hello! Just made an account so I could post this, but I had some questions I would really appreciate some help with.
First, I have an 2 ACT scores–one with all 36’s but a 10 in writing, and one with 35 in all but English (36) and a 12 in writing. Should I report both, or only the 36 composite? Also, are AMC scores that do not make AIME (still high 90, just didnt know about the AMC till last day) a bad idea to report?
Also, I have been learning and improving my mathematical ability, to the point I think USAMO is within reach (with some luck, of course). Is there any way to send this year’s AMC and AIME scores before acceptance results?
I really dont have great EC’s, but an opportunity like this has my hopes up anyway. Thanks, and good luck to all of you applicants too!
@Sure5 I’m fairly certain that you can superscore your ACT score (I think I read that in another RSI thread). I have no idea about AMC and AIME
Is it bad to write both of the extracurricular activities about non-science activities? I am struggling with how to include my experiences from my summer microbiology internship into the essays (beside the question about previous research experience). I feel uncomfortable classifying it as an extracurricular because it was only a summer internship, and I also feel like it doesn’t show “leadership, creativity, and uniqueness”.
I’m pretty sure that counts as an EC. And btw every experience is unique you just have to own it! Look deeper and talk about your perspective. I know there’s something you have to say. @ham4greys
@ham4greys Thanks. Still, the application has an option for adding more than one test, and later asks for a composite-perhaps this is the superscored one?
@ritikulous A better term for Cancer Biology would probably be Oncology
From what I’ve been told, cancer biology is the term used for cancer related work in the research setting, and oncology is the term primarily used in the clinical setting. Regardless, thank you so much for being there for me! Please let me know if anything else I say sounds a little bit off! It would be pretty bad to use odd wording on the RSI application @Fibbonachi10
If I took the SAT and the ACT, do I have to provide both scores?
@staticjava I think you have the option of providing both or one (your most impressive score).
Also, does a research internship with a professor count as leadership? I understand that it shows creativity (intellectual vitality) and uniqueness in some ways, but not sure about leadership. Thx
@victorchang So if I got a 1540 SAT and 36 ACT, should I only provide the 36 ACT?
It may count as leadership in that you had to take the initiative to contact them directly and demonstrate your academic excellence and passion…
@staticjava Wow nice scores! If I got those scores, I would send both. Did you get above 780 on math?
Yea, I guess so thx
@victorchang 790 on math in SAT, but 800 on SAT Math 2…is there any advantage to sending the 1540 or does it bring me down?
