Running from Lederle to Bartlett in 15 minutes?

Hi, I’m going to be a freshman at UMass this fall and I’m signing up for classes. I have a CS lab in Lederle ending at 2:15 and my college writing class in Bartlett starts at 2:30. I checked the map, they’re not exactly close to each other-- should I be concerned about not making it on time?

Checked with my son, class of 2016, who had several math classes in Lederle. He says as long as you walk somewhat briskly you can easily get from Lederle to Bartlett in that time. In fact he indicated that you can pretty much get from just about any place on campus to another in 15 minutes.

You can make it, but it won’t be easy (and if you have any kind of physical issues that keep you from moving quickly, including up stairs and hills, this schedule should probably be avoided). Some people ride long boards around campus at high speed, and those people seem to be onto something. Plan on bolting the second your lab ends to beat the hallway crowds. Hopefully there won’t be any snow during the fall, because when there is, walkways get very slippery. I recommend giving it a trial run during the weekend before classes start so you’ll know exactly where you’re going.

If there’s any way you can get into another writing section that isn’t in Bartlett, though, you should. Bartlett is horrible (boiling hot).

You could take the 35 (Mullin’s Center via Southwest) from Lederle and just hop off at the FAC. Then it’s a 2 min walk from the bus stop to Bartlett. Honestly, the bus system is a life saver on days where you have classes far apart and are too lazy to speed walk (except in the winter, where unless you like being packed in like sardines, I would avoid the bus as much as possible).

@nouveaufriske I think all the sections of Eng 112 are in Bartlett if I remember correctly. It’s been 2 years since I’ve taken it though, so not 100% sure.

You should be able to get from Lederle to Bartlett in 15 minutes.
