Running...

I loooove early morning runs. I'm kind of worried I'll have to abandon this tradition in college, though?

Is it dangerous to run alone early around campus? Or do people do it a lot? I just hear about not walking alone at night, etc. so I was just wondering...

(btw, I'm a girl...)

its not that bad...especially if your school has a specified circuit around campus to run. I go to a geek school so our circuit is 3.14 miles long, appropriately named also

if you have safe, not too isolated circuits to run then it is fine. I just wouldnt run through the isolated woods alone at 5am. Many schools have running trails and you will find that you are not alone in the early morning run. many students do the same thing

We have some very worried people on this forum. First off what kinda school are you going to. Unless you are attending some small, liberal arts college with like 3-4K people, you are fine. Do you think you're going to be the only one running? There are gonna be tons of people up getting ready for class, running, etc.

I'm not really worried, just wondering. I hear 6-8 AM is kinda no-man's land for college kids. I know I see runners all the time in the park, but I still wouldn't run there alone b/c there are lots of isolated stretches. I guess a campus is usually more busy, even in the early morning.

Good to hear :).

I know that at some colleges you can call campus police to either run with you or watch you while you run. So if you're really worried, just call them.

hehehe my nerd joke of the day :P

Love it!

The only relevant question is: where do you go to school? If the area is safe, 6-8am is going to be fine. It's daylight and when is the last time you heard of anyone waking up early to go rob someone? There's a reason stuff happens at night. Laziness.

If you're really worried about your safety, pack some mace with you when you run. Or bring your cell and keep it on. Or find an early-morning jogging buddy. I know at my school there quite a few people who liked to jog early in the morning.

lots of people jog early at my school... though some do it at the rec center.

...get over it and run in area by yourself. It is not that dangerous kid. It is actually quite pleasent. This is coming from a x-country runner in high school. I need to run more again.
