Hi! I was so stupid for choosing to request for SAT score report today. The deadline is nov.1. Is it likely for the report to reach the colleges by the deadline? Is it true that most colleges accept the report even if it is not on time…? Namely university of Michigan and Boston college? I did not choose rush report because people are saying that it does not help… Should I? I know that umich does not accept this.
If Michigan is rolling (it used to be, don’t know if it still is) then rushing helps because it gets your app completed earlier - assuming all your other materials (including LORs, school profile from the GC etc) are already in.
@T26E4 hi! I did not see any information about why I am too late… I am not taking any new sat tests and I am only sending in the old scorers… Does the collegeboardn usually take about one week to send the scores so they arrive at the office?
Oh my bad – I read your OP too quickly. I thought you were taking the Oct SAT. Then you should be fine. Scores are simply an electronic data dump. UMich logs on and downloads all submitted scores.
Your best bet is to contact the schools and ask them. Call them up. You don’t need to tell them who you are. One of my kids had the same question for different schools a few years back and none of them suggested paying extra for rush delivery. They are all sent electronically to the colleges these days - rush or not - so I don’t think it makes a huge difference. I think its a way for the College Board to make $$. But don’t take our word for it. Call the schools and take their advice.
How long CB usually takes to send scores often depends on when you order them. If right after test scores are released, when many thousands of orders to send come in at once, it can take up to a week or sometimes even a little more. If ordered at other times, it often takes only a few days. If you ordered existing scores sent via regular delivery yesterday, you will likely be fine. For BC, it is not an issue because scores can arrive up to two weeks after the app deadline. For Mich, one of the small number of schools that require everything including test scores to be delivered by the app deadline, you should also be fine. Mich has an online account with CB that is used for CB to dump scores into. As a result, sending and delivery of the scores occurs at the same time, and sending rushed usually means the score may be put into that online account only about a day quicker than sending regular delivery. Just a note for future reference, Mich does not accept paper rushed scores, I.e., those delivered by mail, but does accept rushed electronic delivery. That is a meaningless disnction today since CB stopped doing paper deliveries of rushed scores about four years ago except for colleges that have no electronic delivery method (unlikely there are any colleges still in that group).
Right now CB is taking longer than a week, more like 14 days not including weekends and holidays -I called them bc ours from OCT 19th isn’t sent yet (still reads pending) CB said the ONLY way to make sure they get there by the 1st is to RUSH! and you can call CB and add that to your original order for $31 …
I think you need to do that. UMich accepts electronic rush just not paper rush … i don’t think college board will process your “regular score send” in time
