Rutgers Communications or TCNJ?

I’m currently a freshman at Binghamton who is deciding to transfer or not due to Bing not having a communications department. I’m a NJ resident so the tuition at Bing is almost 2x the amount as a NJ school and I’d have to major in just English to do anything communications related. I could also make my own major there, but the school itself doesn’t offer a lot of communications courses, though I really love their newspaper. If I transfer, is TCNJ or Rutgers a better school for communications and transferring? I like how Rutgers is big only because it offers many opportunities, but I feel as though TCNJ would be easier to assimilate to after transferring and they are known for being a more difficult college. I also heard lots of rumors that Rutgers transfer have a hard time graduating on time, and I don’t want to spend an extra semester or two there.

TCNJ is considerable a better school academically and is known to be in the tri state area especially.

Apply to both and see if you get in first. It’s good to have options.

They’re both good. It depends on what you want.

Do you want a larger, more diverse school with D1 Sports in a small city/large suburb? Choose Rutgers

Do you want a school with smaller,D3 Sports, more personalized teaching, in a quiet suburb? Choose TCNJ

It really depends on what (and where) you see yourself doing after graduation. While TCNJ has elevated itself over the past decade, it still remains a little known college in NJ. Rutgers, on the other hand, is a university with national recognition. If you’re looking to work somewhere beyond the Garden State or Philly, Rutgers might be a better option.

New Brunswick is a decent sized city with all the good and bad that goes along with that. Ewing is nothing to write home about but if you want a peaceful experience, then it is for you.

And I’d definitely find out about transfers graduation rates. That’s important.
