She applied in October-seriously how much more time? Honestly I don’t get it, she’s in the range and already had an interview with a coach there. Could the lack of SAT’s be the downfall? I’m starting to think it is even though they say it’s not.
Mine applied in September and was deferred. Already graduated so no new info. Decent SAT score. SAS only. It’s very frustrating. I’m just trying to remember that there are people behind these decisions.
Ahahaha I got deferred. Who would’ve thought my unfinished essay would work like this XD
Congrats on acceptance to RBS. What are your stats. Trying to get an idea of what is needed.
The page with admissions deadlines has a disclaimer saying the dates are not hard deadlines. There’s a separate chart that shows whether a particular school is open or closed to admissions for Fall 2022. As of the other day, the Newark schools were still open.
I find this absolutely hilarious. S22 got deferred (OOS), 3.98 UW, 14 APs (10 AP exams taken, all 5s), many upper level DE college classes, 1580 SAT, national level awards, heaps of volunteering, elected positions, NMSF, … applied to SAS.
Precious.
Yes. They can apply to up to 5 schools. My son put down the wrong campuses (did not realize till he was admitted to both (Camden & Newark)) and went in and added 2 more (both in New Brunswick). He missed the EA window for New Brunswick, but we heard from one (admitted to SAS) and still waiting on the business school.
That’s the question of the year. For another school, people w similar GPA’s to my son got in TO and he submitted his scores and got deferred. I thought >1300 SATs was respectable, especially when the previous average score for admittance had been in the 1200’s. I have a hard time believing these large schools have switched their focus to reading the essays… who knows??
I think with TO those with lower scores aren’t sending them, so now the average SAT could be a 1450
The average might be higher but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t consider someone with a 1300+ score and matching grades, especially for less competetive programs.
Hi! Can you tell us where to find the chart that says what schools are open or closed for admissions?
https://admissions.rutgers.edu/apply/dates-deadlines#tab=panel-3
It looks like all schools are still open for Fall 2022
UW 3.7, SAT 1440, Decent ECs
OK, new to this, so bear with me please.
Daughter applied to Rutgers Nursing New Brunswick. Got the dreaded deferred to regular decision last night. It says to add in updated grades. We tried to do that but since her classes are Full Year courses, it doesn’t let us add in her grades from her first 2 quarters. Any suggestions?
Our daughter got the deferred last night for nursing, too. So frustrating.
Looks like everyone who got a decision this late got deferred. Probably because there was less spots and very strong applicants. I’m pretty sure Rutgers admits by major btw.
Lucky us. My daughters friend got declined last night. Maybe all the good news came out yesterday…
I wanted to make sure we updated the SRAR correctly, so I emailed the admissions office. My questions and the answers I got are below.
- Should she update her cumulative GPA too, or just the grades for her senior year classes?
A: She should not change the cumulative GPA, but if she has been issued a senior year GPA she can update that under senior year.
- If she’s updating a full year course, I assume we’re averaging the first two marking periods’ grades?
A: She should not average her grades, if she has two separate marking period grades rather than one mid-year grade she can list the course with each of the two marking period grades separately.
- If so, how do we reflect this in the SRAR – Does she just replace “IP” with the average grade from the first two marking periods? Is there anything else she needs to mark or fill in so that the recipient understands this is the first half grade from a full year class?
A: She can change the IP with one marking period and then add the class again and list the second marking period. She could also change the course so it is quarter length and then list the first and second quarter grades and leave third and fourth as in progress. We will not ask students to put final grades in the SRAR so we will know based on when it was updated that these are mid-year or first and second quarter grades.
- After we update the SRAR, should we send an e-mail to Admissions letting you know we’ve done this?
A: After the SRAR is updated be sure it is submitted again. Then it automatically gets updated in the student’s record. No need to notify us, we will see and review the most updated version.
Thank you so much, that is very useful.
Wonderful stats!! This deferral could be yield protection.
I am assuming that your son got into other great colleges or should get into top tier colleges.
