Hey Thug...I know how you feel. Its just very ????? when all your friends get everything and you don't. But like many people have already said, getting it late does not mean you are rejected (just means they haven't checked your application yet). Good Luck with everything and hope to see everyone in this topic at Rutgers :). Thanks!!

sthug my stats were very similiar and I got in. True story, I'm not a typical CC student thats on here, my SAT's were only a bit better than yours and not the high 600's like everybody else. However my ECs were very strong and so was my essay and recommendations. Also if your in state and what your ethnicities among other things may effect your chances.

Congratualations to you Mr. Patel. I guess I'll see you around next year. I'll basically be the only Hawaiian freshman so if you see me around give me a shout.

hey im pakistani.
the lady told me that ill get back by feb 28th, since i applied b4 the deadline

hey i got into RU-Newark

you should study hard for the first year at Newark then transfer to Piscataway... Newark isn't that great.

One thing that can be said about Mayor Sharp James, he spent a hell of a lot of energy and capital in Downtown Newark. There's an Arena/Convention center being built (which will make concerts a ten minute bus ride away for a Rutgers-Newark Student), there always has been a corporate presence in Newark and the New offices/high-rises are attracting more businesses looking to save cash by leaving NYC for nearby Newark (which could mean convenient internships), there's a ton of food and shopping to be done/had, there's the museum and libraries nearby, then there's the natural allure of NYC itself.

And lets not forget the fact that all of these investments mean that the city is naturally going to make Downtown Newark as safe as possible, certainly significantly more so than the rest of Newark. Newark-Penn Station is also a major Port of entry into New York City. That means Homeland security dollars to help too. There's all kinds of reasons you'll be safe as an RU-Newark student.

Sthug, maybe you'd like to take Jimgotkp's advice and transfer to NB/Pway, but if you end up in Newark, try to keep an open mind (this is assuming you've been denied the former already), you never know....

Congradulations Mr. Patel

And don't write off Newark. It is a great school, listed in the top 15 in research among small research universities, in a list including DePaul, San Diego State, and the College of William and Mary. Plus it is in a vastly improved area. Certainly, most would prefer to make their way over to New Brunswick, but that shouldn't take anything away from it. If you only view it as a stop before transfering, you will most likely hate it. But if you are open and willing to see what it has to offer, you might fall in love with it. Many people go to Newark planning on transering. There is obviously something which keeps them there.

yea well for now i have planned to stay there a semester only.
get good grades, then transfer to brunswick(i asked the ru lady and she said i can do that easily..but transferin to collge of eng will be hard)

My cousin went to Newark in the intention of transferring. Its funny now that he is a senior and still in Newark. He said these four years were the best 4 years of his life. He met the best of people and friends (including a person he is going to marry).

oh nice,
are there many indian-pakis there?
cause im one of em :)
it would be nice 2 meet someone

Rutgers Newark shares with NJIT. It's essentially two buildings next to each other. I'd say at least half of the students there are indian. Have fun.

One downside of Rutgers is that there are TOOO MANY Indians (and Asians) lol. I am just playing. I heard its very diverse, so it will be great meeting everyone from all over the world.

my kiddo goes to newark actually chose it instead of nb because of the small liberal private feel that it has. never felt usafe. have plenty of night life and plans on staying all 4 years. yes it is the number 1 diverse campus in the U.S.A. but on the upside it should have someone that you are looking for. open your mind and enjoy the smaller classes and check out the classes offered at NJIT as well they cross campus' on some classes. the art museum is right behind the freshman dorm woodward hall and they have shuttles that run all the time and you really are never at a loss of things to do because you have nyc 10 minutes away.
again good luck

:) thanks a lot.
Actually i'm in this 2+2 engineering thing, where I stay in Newark for 2 years than automatically come over to engineering school in NB.
