Currently I’m and a raising senior and I was look at college around my area. Rutgers New Brunswick is a school that many of my extend family attended during their college years and to me it looks like a great school. I was also looking at other school like NYU & NJIT. However I feel like the only thing that is hold me back right now is my sat score I have an 1110. I and planned to retake the sat again in late august. I feel like I have a good roaster as far as classes are concerned (Apush, AP CALC, Ap Bio, etc). And I have extracurriculars like NJOTC, Peer leadership program, national honor society, as well as society of Hispanic profession engineers. My gpa is a 4.311 weighted. (Ps my school doesn’t calculate unweighted long story. ) I’m just afraid the sat will kill my chances. Any advice…
Hey there Ray, for any of these schools you are looking at with an SAT score of 1110, you’re looking at huge reachers and I would not recommend applying unless you either get a higher score or take the ACT and score somewhere around the average for these schools or above.

Currently I’m studying by taking practice tests in barons books. I’m getting around 1190s to 1260s on my practice tests assuming that the sat will be easier than the barons books I’m hoping to break 1200
I would say you need to aim for breaking 1400 to have a serious shot at NYU and 1300 for Rutgers and NJIT,
Do u think a they’ll just look at my sat scores
They won’t make a determination based on SAT alone, but it will be weighted heavily along with you GPA and class rigor.
I’m number 10 in my class of 760 students and I’ve only taken honors and ap classes during my high school career. I’m also a year ahead in math.
I don’t think you stated what you’re majoring in but I’m assuming it’s engineering?
Rutgers Engineering admitted student SAT midrange is from 1370 to 1510 (ACT is from 28 to 33). If you’re better at Math and Science I’d recommend ditching the SAT altogether and prepping for/taking the ACT.
Depends on which school at Rutgers you are interested in. You can get into SAS but probably not business or engineering schools
@Rayfusion7 What are your ap scores like? For NYU you can send 3 AP instead of ACT/SAT. Just send like AP Calc and the ahrder ones
