Rutgers or Binghamton?

Hi im wondering which school is better? They both cost about the same for me, and I am hoping that i can get into Biomedical Engineering and maybe minor in some business. Thanks, help would be greatly appreciated.

I would go to Rutgers.

I've never been to Binghamton, but from what I've heard about it I like Rutgers better too. There are tidbits of info about many colleges floating around in my head, from pieces of conversation, tones of voice, combined with my knowledge of the person speaking--they take shape in my mind even though I've hardly been to any of these places. The memory about Bing that stands out in my mind is that it isn't strong as a community, meaning that people (many? most? I don't know) aren't glad to be there, but are somewhat glad for the education. (That reminds me a little of my school, Connecticut College, where people pretended to be glad to be there. But we were extremely glad for the education). I knew someone who had a hard time making friends at Rutgers, though--a smart, somewhat ougoing guy. I tend to think of it as kind of a lonely place. But it's diverse, and not far from NYC. Also, Rutgers is like a city of its own. Academically, I think they are similar, but Rutgers may be better. Lastly, my aunt went to Binghamton about 30 years ago and loved it.

thanks for the help.

I live in NY, and of all the SUNY schools, Binghamton is the best, academically speaking. The people who go to Binghamton are really considered smart people, and it's always been classified as a "good school", especially for how much it costs and even though it's a SUNY--my Princeton SAT Review teacher went to Binghamton, and...well...I'll see how good he was on Monday, when I get my SAT score back.

I'm not too sure about Rutgers, though (except that it's the only state school without the word "State" in it, and it has a really good crew team), but my friend goes to Binghamton. If you want, I'll ask him what he thinks of it (and I think he's majoring in the sciences, too)

I am from NY and my friend goes ot Binghamton, and he loves it. He also knows someone who goes to emory and someone who will be going there next fall which means he is a real person and his opinion matters. There is also some tradition of setting fire to random things in the parking lot behind their dorm, if you are looking for a school to do amazing stupid things at. Personally my suggestion is SUNY (or emory).

For biomedical engineering, go to the U of Rochester! Great new facilities. You should visit.
