Is it possible to completely skip math in your freshman year? According to the curriculum, the only math you need to take is Calc 1, so if you get a 5 on AP Calc BC, would you get credit for the class?
I'm a little confused because I got this letter saying that I had to go take a math test placement test for math freshman year, so I was wondering if you could skip.

You could take the credit for math, but I remember hearing from my pharm friends that they could only use one of their AP scores for credit. The most popular AP credit taken in pharm is for a full year of General Biology (8 credits), second to a full year of General Chemistry (7 credits). So most people would rather retake math as opposed to their science.

If you already have the 5 in Calc AB, I think you’d be allowed to skip the math placement (but it’ll take some more asking on your part - as in literally calling to ask). If you are still to take the exam in May, you will not be allowed to skip the math placement test. It’s really easy, anyways.

4 or 5 on the BC exam gets you out of math and you will not be able to get credit for any other class because the 4 or 5 got you out of calc 1 AND 2.

a 4 or 5 on the AB exam gets you out of calc 1 but places you in calc 2! so in order to completely get out of math freshman year you have to use BC credit and get out of 1 and 2, which equals the credit limit of 8 credits.

for placement testing, back then we could only get out of the english writing part but we had to take the math part no matter what. Don’t worry it’s easy.

if you do use credits, I suggest using bio credits. 2nd choice is chem (which is 8 credits) but you will still have to take chem lab (1 credit)
