I was wondering if i could get some chances on whether or not I can be admitted into the ernest mario school of pharmacy. I applied to pharma, SEBS, and SAS, and was admitted to SEBS and SAS but pharma says in process, so im getting really worried :(.

SATs: 1370/1600
1940/2400

GPA: 3.9 Weighted (My Freshman Year GPA damaged my >4.0 Averages for my junior year)

Rank: Top 10%

Extra:
I think if i had a "hook" it would be that i conducted research over the summer in a chemistry lab at Rutgers University. I am also co-authoring on a publication that is still being worked on in the lab. I highlighted this in my essay.
NHS, Several Clubs, Tons of Volunteer hours, essay award finalist.

Just wanted a few opinions because I am freaking out.

I think your shot is pretty good to getting into the program, but to completely honest, you might be on the edge of being one of those that could get filtered out 2nd/3rd year, as is the case in many 0+6 programs (I was accepted to RU’s but when to Northeastern’s instead, 2170SAT/35 ACT). The SAT score is probably the weak part of your app, Rutgers is a heavily numbers-admit school.

(Also, your aid/merit package may not be as good coming from Ernesto as the other 2 schools if that is a factor at all).

Thank you for the honesty! I am just going to take it one step at a time and worry about getting in before worrying about working hard/succeeding in the actual program. I didn’t even know Northeastern had a similar program would it be worth applying with my stats??

I think you’ll be in. Getting in really isn’t that hard- so many pharmacy kids that I know didn’t do that well in high school. That means GPAs in the mid 3.0 and SAT scores around 1990-2000/2400. Staying in the program is the difficult part of course. As you start your professional years (year 3), you’ll be VERY busy! You might want to look into the pharmacy programs at St Johns University (Queens, NY) or maybe University of the Sciences (Pennsylvania somewhere).

I have no idea. I am just as worried as you are… some people with great stats were already admitted. But the decision date is January 31…hopefully I know in the next few weeks. anyone else want to chance me?

i’m not going to chance you because to be frank, Pharm is the RU NB school i have the least knowledge about, and their acceptance standards are super super weird according to all my friends at RU.

but, i will tell you that you have no reason to worry. when i applied to RU (back in october) i did NB SAS, NB Business, and Ernest mario. i heard back from SAS in like a week and a half, business a day later, and ernest mario like 3 weeks later. Pharm takes the longest for some ridiculous reason. TBH, the only weak part of your app is your SAT score. i didn’t have any research or papers or anything, nor have i worked in any labs, and i was accepted to Pharm (though i did have a very very very high SAT score).
if possible retake the SAT. otherwise you can really only sit around and wait for them to tell you. :\ but don’t take this long waiting period as a bad sign! i’m proof that it isn’t :)
