I got accepted into Rutgers SAS as a transfer student from a community college and will be attending SAS as a Biology major. However, i heard about the school's Honors program that interested me. I have a 3.6 GPA with 39 transfer credits, but the schools's website says that the GPA has to be atleast 3.7. What are my chances of getting into the Honors program with a 3.6 GPA? What about the letters of recomendation, will they help?

Uh zero, you need a 3.7 to get the invitation to apply. Nothing matters but the and the essay (which I’m convinced also doesn’t matter). Wait a year, get the gpa up and then apply

My gpa for this semester is 3.89but the cumulative is less than the requirement. Will they look at the upward trend in the gpa as this was my best semester. Will taking to a counsellor br of any help?

I don’t think so
“A cumulative GPA of at least 3.700 averaged from all sending institutions.”

But you might be able to self nominate yourself, if you talk to them? Just shoot them an email, or call them and ask… can’t hurt, can it :)

I mean, I think you can always apply for the honors program AFTER you are admitted to Rutgers. To graduate with a honors degree, you will have to have enrolled in the honors program for at least 2 years. So, if your GPA at the end of your sophomore year at Rutgers is high enough, you will be able to apply for the honors program. That way, you will be enrolled in the program during your junior and senior year which will satisfy the honors degree graduation requirement.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.
