nicwayfarer- No update yet. Still in process since they received all credentials.

lexsi340- When I posted the information on last year’s thread some people said that their high school GPA was terrible and that they were accepted anyway. To be honest, I really didn’t have much activities or clubs in high school at all (not sure how much that factors in) but I also didn’t have many difficult classes either. I was placed into all math basic skills classes which showed on my transcript. I also have a learning disability but that was never shown on anything either. With that being said, I don’t know specifically what they look for but a 3.5 seems great to me! Also, since you said you saw my last year’s thread I was wondering if you applied to RU last year as well?

Thank you! That’s definitely reassuring… I just know a lot of people with awful HS records had tons of credits, and I wasn’t sure how a 3.5 looked (not awful, but for a freshman applicant OOS, not competitive).

Nope! I just have wanted to go to Rutgers for most of my life (I seem to be a bit of an anomaly for an OOS’er) and read the threads for the past 3 years to see my chances, ;)

I have been doing the same exact thing. Haha

Ha, it’s addicting right?
Hopefully we’ll all be at Rutgers next year :)

lexsi, try this
[Rutgers | Rutgers Admissions](http://admissions.rutgers.edu/contactus.aspx)

I am NOT trying to be a pain but you definitely need to make sure that rutgers get your high school transcript. Why does it take that long for your school to receive the form that they need to send out your college transcript? A regular piece of paper should get there in no more than 3-4 days.
So you are actually only applying with 8 credits? I know that you will have more by the end of the spring semester but rutgers only want those grades when you are already accepted. This also means that they will put a bit of emphasis on your high school record and SAT scores. Fortunately though, your high school GPA of 3.5 and SAT scores of 1800 are good enough for Arts and Sciences. Were you able to send in your SAT scores since it has been almost 2 years?

to rutransfer:
Did you apply to Rutgers when you have finished 43 credits? or are those credits that you will have after the spring?
you are correct. rutgers dont care what hs gpa you have if u already completed more than 30 college credits
I don’t think we should worry about the remedial math classes. Those will not count toward our GPA and as long as you passed them, you will be fine. In fact I did better in my college level classes than the remedial ones. I started out from a low remedial math classes and worked my way up to calculus(the class I need to get into the business school).

I also heard that rutgers only care about your grades and SAT scores(freshman applicant). The essay isn’t even required and they just made that optional this year. And to be honest, I don’t have any EC except working at a local supermarket for 3 years AHAHHA

and yeah, I hope we all get in

nic:

Thanks. And I understand about the credits - but what I meant is that I’ll have Winter grades (quarter system) before Spring grades by March 20th, before they make the decision… But if you think my grades are good enough, that sounds good!

And my HS requires that I mail them a formal request, which takes about a week, then they don’t send out for another week… and then it takes about a week for it to get put into the system. Frustrating I know… I’m going to try and get an official copy from a school I attended in state for two weeks & fax. I’m talking to the today. Thanks so much again…

how many credits did you take during the winter semester? all college level?

Well I have been reading these forums for a while and decided all add.

I am applying to transfer for Fall 2011 to the School of Arts and Sciences. I will have my associate degree, so far with a 3.3 gpa. I also have all that nice extracurricular stuff, with awards and honors from the mayor, chief of police, and whatever.

To agree with the other person, Rutgers is Extremely slow and somewhat incompetent, yet for some reason I still want to go there. This will be my 3rd time applying, yes 3rd. Out of Hs I got moved to Newark and decided to go to CC instead. Then I applied with about 15 credits first semester with a 3.1 last year, I got waitlisted at the end of March, yet they decided to tell me I was finally rejected at the end of August. So here I am applying. I applied to 2 schools, yet only one came up so I called, they told me to write a letter( I personally handed it to them) I do so, nothing happens. Go back with another one 2 weeks later and a few phone calls, nothing again. Over one month I go back speak to supervisor They figured it out that the system wont let you apply to both the schools yet they fail to make it not let you so I get screwed… Anyways, I got it fixed now its a waiting game. I just hope they accept me cause I only want to go here, I wont even be living on campus, lol. I already got the RU SCREW and Im not a student

Rutgers Newark is that bad that you decided to go to CC instead?

I responded to your private message Jake I didn’t see you posted here to…

Damn DK man that was horrible. I think you got a great chance though now.

nicwayfarer - Yes I have finished 43 credits. By july, I will have completed 65. I did pass all the remedials easily, however I took stats 1 last year and just passed with a C and now I am currently taking stats 2 and hopefully will pass this one as well. They seem to be my most difficult classes but I was also told the math portion isn’t as heavily weighed if you aren’t an economics or accounting major.
We’re in the same boat. I’ve been in retail for the past 3 years lol I think that should count more than a club or an activity, I deal with crazy people on a daily basis! lol

nic: I took another 17 credits - ALL college level, so that brings my total up to 22 semester creidts…

dk: Ugh! I feel awful for you, I would be crushed if that happened to me… It’s all about following up & calling in. I know at least one person (out of the 10 or so tranfers who post) each year gets accidentally rejected (but with like, 3.8 GPA’s) - and if they hadn’t called nothing would have gotten fixed.
What’s your GPA now? Are you going to have your associates? And your applying to NB right…? (It seems like nobody even applies to Newark/Camden as a transfer)

transferRU: They definitely take job commitments into consideration when weighting extracurriculars! I can’t be involved in clubs because of my job either…

lexsi340- My work schedule changes every week! so its difficult to try to work around clubs or anything else. My mother is also disabled so I need to be around whenever she needs me. Hopefully they realize that!

Thanks, yeah it is bad I also have 2 jobs and with a decent gpa so I hope I get in…funny thing is something like that happened to my friend and he emailed them next day it was fixed. I feel like everything happens to me but If i get rejected I will just apply to spring…I wont stop haha-- Are all you transfers looking to live on campus or off? --I think they might take that into consideration since they are over the limit

dkman328 - That’s exactly how I feel. They can’t reject us EVERY time we apply right? There bound to accept us sometime haha I actually live off the rutgers campus now because I was so hyped about going there (at least thought they were going to accept me last semester) so I already signed my lease by the time I found out I was denied. Next year I will be commuting because I just can’t afford it. Wish I could.

transferRU: Did you mention that in your family obligations box? If so, I’m sure they’ll take it into consideration (but only if you’re marginal & they need to look at your extracurriculars)
dk: I know! If I don’t get it (which I will… law of attraction, right? haha) I plan on moving to Jersey/NY and doing community college there!
I’m looking to live on campus, even though it’s more expensive I want the dorm experience! What about you?
Jeeze we should be let in just for our passion for Rutgers… ;)

Yea lexi I have a 3.3 gpa, I will have my associates in May and I am now only applying to Arts and Sciences at New Brunswick because the other location I cant also apply to. I don’t know anyone who applied just to Newark/Camden but I know plenty of people who got denied from NB but Rutgers accepts them to Newark even if they did not apply. Funny thing is my brother graduated from this school…lol

Lexsi- I recommend community college in NJ because they have this deal with NJ schools which makes it really easy to transfer and stuff plus I wont be graduating with debt like many others and I will have the same degree haha and I am looking to live off campus I will be a junior…we have so much perseverance

Transfer- thats how I think they must accept me soon or later and Im in the same boat u were in last year. 4 Friends and I are looking at houses everyweek 3 of us are transferring which with my history I know were are not all getting in- Im being a realist, problem is we have to sign lease soon but what if I don’t get in…plus side is I will graduate with associate so technically I can live there and just not go to school- but I would be wasting time…what did you do?
