Do they actually reject EA applicants? I was thinking they would just accept or defer, short of extraordinary circumstances. Last year no one reported being rejected on the EA thread.
My son was just admitted at NB to SAS (CS, not sure if that matters), Engineering, and Business. He is OOS, 93 UW average, 1380 SAT, and several pretty good CS ECs.
Good luck to all!
CS is the most competitive major. Congrats!
yeh, finally got my NB acceptance!!!
still havenât received my decision, am I the only one who didnât get a reply so far?
Thank you to everyone who has been giving information on this thread all along. My daughter was admitted into SEBS at NB. She will be majoring in Meteorology. We are OOS.
was wondering same thing - any rejections or just deferred
Still awaiting NB CompSci decision. Assuming it will be a deferral though at this point given most admissions were reported earlier and were deferred for Comp Engineering which isnât that competitive.
Just deferred to comp sci too. Will always wonder now if applying to Camden as a backup affected the decision. Naviance showed NB was a safe accept.
Yes, people do get rejected as well.
To the best of my knowledge, each campus/school makes an independent decision. So picking Camden wonât have impacted the NB decision.
Sorry to hear about the deferrals. Hang in there - could change into an acceptance within a few weeks.
I wonder if I was moved to RD or something because my SAT was sent late, though an admissions email confirmed I was in EA. Nothing from Rutgers yet
My son was accepted to NB- both SAS and Biological Sciences. In-state and applied end of October.
Son accepted to Arts and Science and Business Schoo NB l- so excited!
Sorry about the deferral. Its possible they saw student got in at Camden and deferred.
When will deferred students hear back?
I swear last week it said 2/15, I think they changed it
Yes, they say it is considered independently, but I canât explain why else he is in solid green in Naviance for his school but didnât get accepted, not even to Computer Engineering which is not that selective. He has solid Comp Sci ECs, won multiple robotics awards, including for autonomous programming on the international level, state championship semifinalist, 4th in world at robotics world championship, and attended mutliple Stanford AI Camp sessions as a scholarship student and was nominated into their Incubator program.
I understand yield protecting of every high SAT/GPA because those kids are likely not going to attend by that is not the case here. He was accepted in Penn State and Pitt Enginering and over 12 other schools (Drexel, Kettering, Temple, NJIT, etcâŠ) some with far lower acceptance rates.
I just canât help but think it was because he applied to Camden too.
You can send Admissions an email and ask if your child is considered early or regular decision. I did that last week and they responded the next day.
That is exactly what I am thinking. Canât come up with any other reason. RD decisions come at the end of February, problem is other schools he was already accepted into are first-come, first-serve for housing and warning he may have to live off campus if he doesnât enroll and submit a housing deposit. I am really hesitant about waiting another month and missing out on housing only to possibly get rejected, or waitlisted. He is probably going to risk it though.
