Rutgers University New Brunswick Early Action for Fall 2023

My understanding is top 7% of each school. Total 500 honors positions open each year and 3000 students are offered honors placement and 2500 of those offered won’t accept it. The placement criterIa is based on GPA, SAT/ACT and Ecs. There is a method to the madness.

Rutgers students major is finalized at the end of sophomore’s year. Psychology and Math - both are part of SAS (They offer honors to top 7% of SAS school without considering major. Many kids apply undecided to SAS. Open to correction

Thanks. Any idea how much GPA is weighted vs test scores and whether they focus on weighted or unweighted?

My son was told that they don’t see mid year grades for admitted students.

Headed to Rutgers NB for scheduled tour tomorrow, via train from DC. Oddly, I’m finding it difficult to isolate the “best” way to get from the NB train station to campus. I’m failing to effectively browse NJ Transit bus schedules and google maps oddly just says “too bad, walk the 2 miles”.

Anyone have specific advice to optimize a public transportation route?

New Brunswick train station drops you off across the street from College Avenue campus. Assuming the tour that you are on originates from College Avenue. It should be a very short walk from the station. other than that, you probably could Uber to another location if it is on the Piscataway side of campus.

Rutgers tour starts on Busch campus.

Oh, does that mean we can walk to the nearest College Ave stops for the Rutgers shuttle bus, then use that to get to Busch?

Hi, my son’s at RU. Yes, you can walk from the train to The Yard on College Ave and catch an RU bus to Busch. They run every 5-15 minutes. There are different routes. I think you want the “H” bus, but look it up or download the RUMobile app for info and live updates. Depending on time, RU buses can be crowded. Sometimes they arrive full and you have to wait for the next one. You can Google “Rutgers standard course periods” to see what times students will be going between classes. FYI, the NJT train station is right next to Barnes & Noble, the college bookstore where you can get RU gear. Enjoy your trip!

Any idea when merit-based scholarships be announced?

Admitted to both RBS and SAS. Also received $7K scholarship from TCNJ. We will decide TCNJ vs. Rutgers based on how much (if any) scholarship we will receive from Rutgers.

I have business school graduates from both, they each received job offers from their internships and are currently working there. Rutgers does not give merit to many in state students. They are such different schools and will probably be close in price, off campus living expenses are similar. Rutgers is huge with a lot of diversity, not a lot of hand holding but they offer a lot, TCNJ is much smaller with a traditional campus, lack of diversity, less overwhelming. Both of my kids were very happy with their decisions and outcomes.

Had a really good trip, and once the shuttle basics are understood, it makes sense and was pretty easy to use. But trying to understand campus transportation from a single online overview, that needs improvement! :stuck_out_tongue: I only had it straight in my head after asking here and an email to the admissions office.

Guys are the scholarship decisions out?!

My student has a $5500 award listed under each of the two colleges at New Brunswick she was accepted to but when I click award detail and information I can’t find out any more. Is it merit, is it a loan? Is it for all 4 years? No clue!

Update- it’s just a loan. We are OOS so no thanks. Good luck all. Peace out
