Rutgers vs. TCNJ

ugh!!!!! Rutgers was my first choice no doubt about that, and TCNJ was my safety.

Rutgers-Accepted through EOF, changed my major to biology from nursing, pretty much just financial aid and EOF money, close to home(that's why it was my first choice, literally 10 minutes from my house)

TCNJ-accepted through EOF, which means first two years everything is paid for even books! and i was accepted into the nursing program(original major) but like a 45 minute drive

where would i save more money? i was thinking what if i cant get more TCNJ money(you have to compete for it, for yr 3 and 4) for yr 3 and 4, i would save money at Rutgers by just dorming for yr 1 and commuting yr 2,3, 4

Tough decision!!!!!! Any help? suggestions?

TCNJ has the better reputation; Rutgers has the big time sports

TCNJ doesn’t have a better reputation, IMO. Rutgers is more nationally known. Rutgers also doesn’t really have big time sports, but they’re trying to make themselves a competitive sports school to build more name recognition.

Do you want to major in bio or nursing?

Is it the New Brunswick RU campus you’d go to? Atmosphere totally different at TCNJ, more like a LAC, and not as much going on in immediate area compared to New Brunswick. If you’re considering Camden or Newark campuses, that’s a different story. RU has more name recognition nationally because it’s our state university, but it’s not a top-rated one certainly. TCNJ is more selective than RU in admissions, so could be considered “better” in that regard. If you’re not that concerned about any of these factors and plan to commute 45 minutes to TCNJ, I guess you’re not making a decision based on the sort of experience you get as a resident student. Your decision probably should be based then on the relative strengths of the programs you’re interested in and how much of factor the $ is, how likely you are to be successful in competing for the $ at TCNJ in the later years if you’re leaning toward TCNJ.
