I’ve had a message from his daughter. It says, “I can’t believe he is gone, but I am so glad he got to meet amazing people like you and the CC community in his life- he rly enjoyed discussing the college admissions process.”
She asked me to send her a link to this thread. She thanks you all for the kind words so far.
I valued his perspectives on the political threads he moderated, but my favorite thread (which he started) was ‘your favorite live moments in rock/music’ thread. Like me, he loved music…the pandemic made many of us realize how important live music was in our lives.
I’ve been to some great concerts this year, and will post some highlights soon.
Oh my! I just read one of his posts recently (probably on the political thread), and chuckled again at his CC name, thinking he must have a great sense of humor. To those who know him or his family personally, please give extra hugs from the virtual family!
As a latecomer to CC - and never joining the political forum - I’ve only had few occasions to share a conversation with @mynameiswhatever. Still, his thought-out, well-founded messages made this name memorable to me. I’ve often thought I would enjoy meeting some day, to learn more about the person behind his insightful perspectives.
I’m glad he was able to see, and take pride in, his student’s path into a successful adult life, a worry that many parents share. My sincere condolences, foremost to his family in this difficult time - and also to many friends he clearly made here.
I’m so sorry to hear this sad news. May the memories he and his family (and CCers) be a comfort and a blessing. I’m glad his D is seeing the care and respect so many here felt for her dad.
May his posting history continue to be read and valued in the cc world, and his efforts in life be a source of comfort and blessing to his family and friends. He was clearly a light in this world to many people both in life and online. Such a positive reach is not always common. Peace be with him and his family.
This is incredibly sad news. I enjoyed his posts in the politics forum, and appreciated his thoughts and insight. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him, here, there and everywhere.
