Safe to skip 80's+ for APUSH?

Am I safe not covering the 80's and up for this upcoming APUSH test? Our class only got to about the 60's, so I've been catching up in the American Pageant. However, I'm wondering if it would be better just to skip Reagon on up. Could I still achieve a 5?

My teacher said that they briefly covered 70’s and i think 80’s. And that they may be gradually pushing a little bit more this year. I would probably just skim over those decades though, just in case.

Ok. I will probably just skim over the 80’s then.

of course not. Don’t skip the 80’s. Even on today’s SAT ii test, there were 2 or 3 questions on the 80’s. i’d think the same for AP. Read what Reagan did, he’s pretty important. I would get up to the older bush and quickly skim through Clinton, Bush (War on terror!) and obama, if your book even has him.

Noooo. My AP USH teacher spent a whole class drilling my class on what we need to study, and he said that 80’s and 90’s will definitely be on this test. 90’s because we’re removed enough from it that most historians can reach a consensus on what was important.

At the very least study the 80’s. Reagan and supply side economics is big.

We only got to the fifties in our class, and I just made a 5 on a practice test. But that’s just me. Haha.

Last year, there was a Clinton question and (I believe) a Reagan question. I wouldn’t anticipate any FRQ/DBQ past the 60s.

@ WeAreNow

Damn. Your teacher sucks. We finished the entire course 2-3 weeks before the exam last year.

So learn the 80’s and 90’s? Or would it be better just to go back and review everything else to make sure that I know it well?

Hit the high points from 1960 and up, but don’t worry about any details, just a general grasp.

The Vietnam War is very important though, right? BTW I have already learned about that, I’m just wondering for the test.

As my teacher said, just know the “greatest hits” from the post-Vietnam era. If you know your other stuff well enough you’ll be fine on MC because of the curve, but it’s better to have your bases covered just in case. 99.9% chance of no essays/DBQs on this era, since the Vietnam DBQ was so recent (2008) and that was the latest era a FR has ever asked about.

No!!! Reagan is really important. You can just skim the 1988 - 2008 period.
