I read an article recently listing the safest colleges, i.e. lowest tolerance/incidence of drugs, alcohol, bullying, etc. and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on which prep schools have the reputation for being the safest. (No lectures please, I know there is no utopia)

I’m not sure. But, welcome to CC, Geducation!

I’d say, broadly speaking, that it’s probably the schools that keep the kids the busiest–with challenging academic, athletics, intensive ec’s, Saturday classes, enforced dorm check-ins/study halls, etc. And maybe the schools with the least access to cities?

although some schools are worse than others, basically every school has the above things going on

Groton is meant to be pretty strict with check-ins and such. I don’t know if you consider strict, safe.

Also, schools with fewer day students…at least where alcohol is concerned. My older son said that when he was at his bs, his dorm ran a very tight ship and all of the kids knew to never drink on campus. If they wanted to party, they went home for the w/e with a day student.

Also…live in a smaller dorm if possible. There is more oversight of the kids. Make sure your child has a very involved advisor with whom you and your child have a good relationship.
