well thanks for your insights
but are u sure you are picking safeties for me ? I think U Delaware, Joseph .... are matches :(

Babson maybe? Look into that school because I forgot their stats

international, looking for aid? will that be ok?
further more, SAT 2130 (780M, 640R, 720W/10Essay)
I just can't find any safety :(, if any they don't provide fin aid :(

Feeling so bad because of late decision to apply to America, I couldn't do much research

St. Louis University is def. not a safety for you. U Mass Dartmouth would be though.

lol in collegeboard though st.louis has 80% acceptance rate but I think that school is pretty competitive. but anyway i dont wanna live in MO :|
yeah UMass maybe safety for me, but i don't really like it tho. i visited Umass Boston and the classrooms were like laboratories :|

Legend: While a high number of students who go to college in a specific region frequently find jobs after graduation there, it is also axiomatic that a significant number find jobs where they want to live and begin careers. Dont judge a school by its location.....at least by the notion of "I dont want to live there." Be open minded.

We can all parse words and phrases. The point is to pick schools that are, shall we say super safeties (sure bets on admission) and those which are matches and highly likely and matches which are more challenging and then true reaches. You sort of have to make that list by yourself and categorize them yourself. I cant do that for you, only give you some general direction. St. Louis University offered my D a HUGE scholarship, by the way. She was waitlisted at WashU, so she ended up walking away. But we LIKED St. Louis and St. Louis University is a very good school with ROLLING ADMISSIONS....HINT HINT HINT! Do it online and get it in and see what happens. Its a GORGEOUS campus with 250 million in NEW buildings. It has an Aeronautical Science program that is very highly regarded. Its number ONE in Health Sciences Law. Good med school and good law school. Its on the opposite end of Forest Park from WashU. I think it would be a good school for you. 40% of students there are non-catholic. REALLY FRIENDLY PEOPLE!

Spread your wings there, friend, and see where you get in and compare offers.

Your list: Fordham, Villanova, St. Joe's, St. Louis Univ., U Delaware, Temple, High Point Univ., Elon Univ., Belmont Abbey. I think that is a very good list and evenly spread out between reach, match and safety. Apply to 10-12 schools, especially the ROLLING ADMISSIONS schools because you get a very quick response...as in a month or less. Got it?

Good luck.

n.b. I dont think TU Owls dude is helping Temple. Just my opinion.

I dont care if I'm helping Temple or not (in your view). SJU is a waste of money. Period.

well because of the fact that I'm international, do not know much about american colleges and have pretty low SAT, I have to be picky :D somehow I'm nervous that I don't pick the right school.
I wanna ask all CCers about every college in my list, but I think it's a waste of time and annoying :D so I will make a decision in a couple of days for my final colleges.
thanks for helping

You said you wanted to go to either Fordham or Villanova right? If so you should be able to get in, especially if your high school is known to be rigorous.

I doubt an 1800 is good enough for Villanova business. I think the average SAT for that program is about 2050

yeah but the thing is I'm not sure if I'm accepted. my low SAT worries me :(

Could you break down your sat score for me? I know it is 1800, but what is your critical reading and math scores?

oh well the combination is:CR 480,M 650,W 660 :(
hopefully I will get better score in Dec AND either fordham or villanova will let me reapply if I fail at EA

Everything is fine except for the reading. If you can get that in the 600s then you will be good to go. You should get a study tutor for the SAT, it can help you improve your score a ton.

yep that's what I'm worrying about. my problem lies on the technical issue: SAT :(

However you did say your gpa was 4.1 right? If so that is a great gpa which is probably the most important thing when applying to colleges?

:| about the GPA if I keep going like last year, my GPA is even higher because I have 2 AP classes this year, last year I didn't have any. even though my GPA is not as high as that of some people, having balanced GPA + SAT is better (by saying that I mean it's not likely I can raise CR close to 600 or 700 -> kinda lopsided )

Look at this list of SAT optional schools. You don't have to send them your SAT score.
Optional List | FairTest
If you would consider coming to Ohio, there are some great options here for you.

But, you say you want to stay on the East Coast. As I look at the schools on this list, given that money is not an issue, I think that maybe Drew would be a nice safety school for you. Close to NYC, SAT optional, pretty easy to get into anyway and more female than male so guys get a boost. See if their econ major with a concentration in business, money, and finance might work for you. You are good at math, so I think this might be a goodpossibility.
Think beyond your textbook - Drew University

We have a friend who is a freshman at Drew this year and she loves it there.

I know several people in finance who graduated from Iona College, a Catholic college in New Rochelle, north of NYC and have really impressive jobs.

well Iona college is a decent school. But in CB, the CR of Iona varies from like 530-640, while my CR is only 480 ->too far below. That's what I'm worried about :( do colleges evaluate each component or they just look at the overall score ?
