Safety Schools Similar to Duke and Wash U??

I'm an incoming senior and I'm having some trouble finding some safety schools that I'm interested in and would be happy attending if I don't get into my top two schools, Duke and Wash U. I really like every aspect of these two schools, so do you guys know of any safeties that are similar to them academically, socially etc..

I'm interested in majoring in the sciences (most likely biology, chemistry or biochemistry) and probably will be pre-med.

SAT: 2050 (760CR 600M 690W)
SAT IIs: 740 US history 710 Lit 740 Math II (hopefully this will make up for the 600)
GPA: 3.8 UW not sure about weighted...
A very rigorous schedule at a private school (4/5 classes are APs)
A few solid ECs and a couple of miscellaneous ones...don't really feel like listing them all...
Ethnicity: Black
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: 65,000-75,000 (will be needing significant financial aid)
State: MD

Thanks for all your help!

bummpppppp

Case Western Reserve, University of Rochester.

Thanks!! Anybody else?

Rice and Emory are similar but would be about the same in selectivity. Boston University?

You should make sure to apply to Rice, Northwestern, and Emory, they are very similar to these. Tufts is slightly less selective and similar as well.

What are the most important qualities you think Duke and WUSTL have in common that you’d want in a less selective school?

Possibilities might include Furman, Wake Forest, the University of Miami, or the University of Richmond. These are private, moderately selective, small to mid-sized southern schools.

Thanks everyone for your responses!
@tk21769 I really like the fact that both Duke and and WUSTL have great undergraduate science programs that allow for a lot research opportunities. Also I love the social scenes at both schools: Duke’s awesome school spirit and the “work hard, play hard” attitude that is present at both.

And I’m not really looking for southern schools (the farthest south I’ll go is probably North Carolina) but places like Florida and Texas are okay.

Edit: post no longer relevant because of blessed moderator action.

bumpppppppp

haha Thanks annasdad

It looks like his posts were deleted anyway

Ooops sorry didn’t see the edit :)

Bumpppp

Anybody else have any suggestions?

Please stop bumping your thread - it’s annoying and unnecessary.

I’m sorry.

It’s just that I would really like some more suggestions since application deadlines are getting closer and I don’t really have a substantial amount of schools on my list. My parents don’t really grasp the concept of safety schools so I decided to post on here to get some guidance.

American
Lehigh
Rhodes
Rochester
Tulane
William & Mary

Most of these are matches rather than safeties, unfortunately. I agree with TK that Miami, Wake Forest, and U Richmond are very similar. Elon (more similar to WUStL than Duke) is another possibility.

Some of the northeastern LACs (Franklin & Marshall, Bucknell, Lafayette, Trinity, and others) are worth looking into.

Maryland should be your safety. It will likely be affordable since you’re in-state, and it shares many qualities with Duke.

I definitely think New Hampshire might be a good safety school for you, given your SAT it is definitely on the safety side. Plus it would be substantially cheaper then Duke, and has a solid biochem program.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I really appreciate it!

William & Mary, Wake Forest are similar to your schools. Agree with Elon, Richmond, Furman, maybe Bucknell as schools less competitive but still good.
