Saint Joseph's University vs Rutgers NB

Hi all! So I was recently accepted to NB and I’m super excited as Rutgers has been my top choice for 10 months now but my mom is dead set on not letting me attend Rutgers even though they’re rated #3 in the nation for my program, Human Resources management, and SJU is unranked! She’s worried I won’t be able to handle a big school as she didn’t like the school she originally attended (UNC) and transferred to a smaller school (Muhlenberg) but I really believe I would thrive at Rutgers and I was overjoyed when I got in! Rutgers is about $10k cheaper than SJU too. Do you guys have any tips for trying to convince her?

@rutgersknight322 when did u hear back from rutgers NB?

Rutgers is really several smaller colleges under the large umbrella of Rutgers. The main campus, New Brunswick is very cool, it’s made up of the smaller campus communities (College Ave Campus, Livingston Campus, Douglas Campus) look and feel like a small colleges but mean while you have the prestige of attending a top notch research university. Rutgers has national recognition, which means employers higher the students, it has big school spirit, and lots of options for double majors or minors. It may take a couple of days to figure it all out but you never get tired of it. You need to go on official tour or admitted student day with your mom.

I had the same reservations for my Daughter about Rutgers. We took the scarlet visit tour and took a few day trips to get acclimated to the campus at New Brunswick. The tour truly shifted my perspective and I now feel that it is the best option. If you do tour the campus and walk around a bit after it may help you out with your decision, good luck.
