We haven’t been able to visit schools, just too far, but plan on checking out both Salisbury and AOF on re-visit days. If you have recent experience with either school, can you pls share your thoughts/ things you like, concerns?
My son is a sophomore (IV Form) at Salisbury and we are huge fans of the school. He had choices (including Avon) but something about Salisbury just felt right. He just went back after his three week spring break and my husband and I were teary after he left but we were saying we couldn’t allow ourselves to feel too badly because he is absolutely thriving there. One of the things we appreciate the most about Salisbury is that they really care about raising nice kids. It is in their culture from the top down. One piece of advice…the revisit days can be a bit of a spectacle. Some schools serve steak and milk shakes and put on elaborate shows, etc…It is all very nice and impressive but don’t lose sight of the most important things. Make sure you connect with teachers, coaches, and tutors or learning center staff (if applicable) to make sure the people your son will interact with the most are a good fit. Good luck! And congratulations to your son on great choices!
@Nosedive, I’m glad to hear that you and your son like Salisbury so much. My son will be going to Salisbury next year, and we are going to the revisit on Friday (though he’s visited a number of times). He’s thrilled and we have high hopes. He had choices too, but Salisbury was his first choice all along, and I do get a good feeling about the environment and culture.
@BoyMomx2, I sent you a message; I hope you were able to find a way to visit!
My son and husband were able to visit Salisbury, Holderness and AOF this week. All wonderful schools. Our son also chose Salisbury! Our schedules didn’t align to attend re-visit days, but very grateful to all the schools who setup ad hoc visits this week.
We are excited about Salisbury!
@BoyMomx2 - That’s great news! We had a great time at the revisit at Salisbury on Friday, horrible weather notwithstanding. I have high hopes, and my son is now more excited than ever.
