do ya’ll know if i can split the money up for both fall and spring semester?

^ yeah i wanna ask the same thing too

I think u can according to this…
The recipient will receive a one-time $3,000 scholarship to be applied to qualified expenses including undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and on-campus room and board for the 2011-2012 academic year. Funds are provided by the Walmart Foundation. Payments are issued by ACT, Inc, made payable to the student’s approved college or university and mailed after August 1, 2011 directly to the accredited college or university last designated by the student…

I plan to apply next year, but I plan to go to Emory which will pay for everything except books (since my EFC is so low). Would I still be eligible?

yeah you’re still eligible as long as you don’t go over your COA.

Ok so as long as I dont have scholarships that go over my COA I can still get it? Also is it a check they give you or do they mail funds to the school?

They send a check to the school.

yay! $3k, walmart is so generous :D

^ and so rich (beyond our imaginations) too :P

So is it true that you have to use the 3K in one semester? If it is, I think that’s kinda ridiculous… not that I’m not grateful for the scholarship, because I definitely am.

No, read my post above…
States 2011-2012 academic year

No, The money does not have to be spent in one semester it can be split 50/50

Score! Getting a $5000 check now for all other fees in addition to room and board for four years. College will be awesome.

Hi,

Congrats to everyone who got it!
Quick question… the agreement says that we can use the money for tuition, fees, and books. But how can I use the money for books if the check is sent straight to the college? Thanks!

Most college’s have an actual student account which you can draw on to pay the books - almost like a bank account.

The college im attending gives me a surplus of about 6,500 a year after my housing and tuition is paid off. Is my walmart scholarship canceled because of that?

so do you guys know if we gotta submit any information about our college to Sam Walton? or any form we have to fill out to get the money, cuz they haven’t said anything about the process of sending the money to which school and when

The email they sent notifying you of the scholarship had a link to accept the scholarship and that process included giving all the info of the college.
Please tell me that you did accept the scholarship online and complete that because if I recall that had to be done like by June 1st.

oh yeah of course i accepted it, but it didn’t ask for my college’s information or anything, the process was very simple, like one click or something.

nevermind, forget my question. i called them and it turns out i did put in my college, and the check will be sent there automatically
