Special Circumstances field in scholarship app?

Our son is completing the Boettcher Scholarship application. (specific to Colorado) Under the scholar information area there is a field that says Special Circumstances, with a 250 word limit. I was wondering if he should use this area to explain that he made the choice to attend a more rigorous high school outside of our town and that he commutes 70 miles round trip to do that. Is it worth mentioning? I know that there are students who have overcome horrible hardships and this is not in the same league with some of those circumstances. But I think it does explain that he is very motivated and that if he is fortunate enough to win, he would make the most of it. (It makes for a very long day, especially with ECs) I'd appreciate your thoughts on this.
Appropriate place for this?
Worth mentioning?
Thanks!

Bumpity bump

I think it would be a benefit. Especially if it affects his EC’s and such. I would include it. I know they are wondering if you are taking care of grandma or there are other medical issues etc are more common as special circumstances but this is different also. So many of these scholarships ask for time spent and if so this would explain where some of his time is spent even if not on a class or club. Good luck.
