I'm currently a freshman thinking about transferring to a school where my boyfriend and brother currently go. My brother will be graduating this year, so it's not like I'd see him around at all there. Also, the size of the school is about 5,000 students, so it's not like I'd see my boyfriend all the time either. The school is a very good school, that's why I'm thinking about transferring there. Do you think it's weird that I want to go to the same school as my boyfriend and my brother? Any advice on whether this is a good idea or not?

It’s not weird at all. But the bottom line would be whether or not the school is right for you. Is it just as good as where you are now, or better?

Imagine if your boyfriend and brother did not attend that school: would you still want to go? If in that case you wouldn’t mind the switch, then it’s neither a good nor bad idea. But if in that hypothetical case you know you would not be as happy at the new school, then it’s a bad idea.

I think the school would be a good fit for me. It is more prestigious than the school I attend now, however I would be majoring in business and their business school has limited majors. I’m just not sure if the school I’m at now, or the area I live in, is a great fit for me.

Try to transfer. But the better the school, the lower the transfer numbers. So, give it a try but don’t get all hung up on it. :)

Thanks, I’ve already been accepted as a transfer. Now I just have to decide if I’m willing the amount of options available for my major… Does anyone know about Geneseo’s accounting program?

Congratulations on getting in! And Geneseo is a great school :)

Thanks! I currently go to SUNY Oswego… do you think it would be worth it for me to transfer to Geneseo as an accounting major?
