What are your opinions, experiences, etc. on Samford University and the University of Kentucky? I have been accepted to both. I plan on majoring in Political Science with a possible minor in history, theology, or philosophy. Future plans include grad school (public policy, political theory).

I assume not many people from the south post on here?

I know little to nothing about UK, but Samford is a good, preppy, conservative, still in touch with the Baptist roots, small university. Small, well respected regionally, School of Pharmacy. While it remains "more religious" than many of the other Southern private schools, I do not know if it is as conservative as the Southern Baptist church is becoming - the college WAS more in tune with the moderate elements of the church, not sure if it still is.
Lovely, centrally located campus in Birmingham. Need a car.

Samford is well-respected here in the south..I don't know anything about Kentucky, however.

Kentucky has a few highly-regarded political science professors. It's a good school, but only has 1 very prestigeous program and that happens to be pharmacy. It's very average compared to other flagship state universities. UK is a intelligent choice if you are going to reside in Kentucky because the "good ole boy" system will get you a nice job.
