SAMS at Carnegie Mellon 2019-2020 Discussion

@KingPedro I am not sure, but I would think you would find out later. It takes awhile to review all of the application information, so I would assume you would find out closer to end of January or beginning of February.

Are there any socioeconomic/minority criteria that needs to be met? I don’t think I classify as either, but my parents aren’t willing to pay for any of my summer programs.

@highsckid no, anyone can apply, it’s just focused more on minorities, but tou may still apply

@BoundtoSucceed Thanks. I have also submitted my application and hope to hear back soon. Do they ask any questions on the phone or just a notification about the application timeline?

@waytocollege They asked a few questions specific to my application. Nothing general like “Why should we accept you?”, just clarifying questions. Good luck! Hopefully we’ll see each other this summer!

@BoundtoSucceed do you know what day they are meeting for the second round? i’m really mad at myself for missing the first round and i’m really hoping to go to SAMS, I love cs :,))

around how many people did y’all ask for recommendations and who? did anyone ask any non-stem teachers?

@haisuu I asked three and one was from an advisor, not a stem teacher. I don’t know about the second round, sorry.

It’s possible the call will be on the 9th not the 8th

@BoundtoSucceed Did they notify you that the call/decision got pushed to 9th instead of 8th? Best of luck to you and hope you get in!

@collegebun No, I just remembered that I wasn’t sure if it was the 8th or 9th, and I didn’t want anyone to worry if they didn’t get a call. Thank you!

Anyone got in? Waiting so anxiously. Want to find out the result before applying for other camps.

@collegebun Did you get a call from them telling you when acceptances would come out? Cause I’m worried I heard them wrong or something.

@BoundtoSucceed No I never got any call from them. I am thinking of calling them to find out tomorrow. In case I don’t get in, I still have time to apply for other programs.

I saw the posts in prior years, usually, people get notified within 3 weeks. Not too sure why it takes a little longer this year.

You guys can always check the directory. @collegebun @BoundtoSucceed Enter your name and if it pops up, you were accepted. If not, the decision has not yet been made. https://directory.andrew.cmu.edu/index.cgi

@ak2018 thanks. My name is definitely not on the directory. I know

@ak2018 sorry accidentally hit post before finishing my post. I know it is hard to get in. Just want to know the result before applying for other camps.

Anyone got in?

Has anyone gotten any news?? Or gotten accepted or anything??
