Did they email you, send a paper letter, or call you?

Did you get an email or letter or phone call, Star118? I still haven’t received anything except an email saying “It’s not to late to apply to CMU Pre-College!”

I got a rejection letter for this today… I didn’t even send in a supplemental pack (I got lazy lol) !!! Haha, it would have been awesome if I got in without having to do all of those essays and whatnot :)

chase: it’s a letter… at least for those who were rejected

SAMS 2011 Facebook Group. Get to know your family before you actually get there!

@chaseholl:
Yeah I got that email too… I think it means rejection…:[ Why else would they offer other programs to us? Did anyone else get emails about CMU summer stuff NOT related to SAMS?

I got that email today, and frankly it makes me even more nervous. I just want my dang letter.

Whew, not the only one!

To make money off your fears :P. Or, it’s just an automated computer system that spams all the e-mail addresses in their database. Either way, I don’t think it means rejection … yet. :/

Rejected, ah well.

I got the email as well…so I’m assuming I got rejected…:(

i was accepted!!

Oh…so does that mean if you got the email, you were rejected?
Or did you find out my mail?

I was accepted! Got my letter in the mail yesterday!

those of you who didn’t get in, always remember everything happens for a reason. i was rejected from MITES which led me to apply to SAMS those of you who did, CONGRATULATIONS and i hope to see you there :D

would anyone mind posting some stats (grades, extracurriculars, test scores, classes, etc) whether you were rejected OR accepted?

I’m so excited!

no, just becuase you received the email does not mean you were rejected. i received the email and was accepted. it is an automatic computer generated email to everyone on the admissions list or something.
my stats are: 29 ACT 4.2 GPA, 2nd in class, play violin, ballet, NHS, WYSE team, some volunteer stuff
class i currently take: H Chem, H pre-calc/calc, apush, H English, spanish 3, cons econ
on my essays i talk about why i like math, my engineering things i do etc.

everyone who was accepted should join the facebook group :)

anyone accepted and not planning to go?

i was rejected! congrats to all of you who got in.

I got the advertising email and was accepted! My stats aren’t that impressive, but I think I showed my passion pretty well, and my resume reflected the skills that I’ve gained independently outside of school.

PSAT: 1790 (Lol…only took it once this year)

SAT score: 1780 (sent), but got a 1940 recently

Grades: All A’s except for a C+ in P.E. (yea…um…kind of embarrasing ^^) and a B in HPhysics that I later brought up to an A.

Current Classes: AP Chemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, AP Computer Science, Western Civilization, H Precalc, and Mentorship. (I took a lot of other interesting classes online before that’s reflected in my transcript)

School: NCSSM (it’s based on application too…so I think that may have helped me?)
AP’s: None :)

Extracurriculars: Annual AsiaFest Food Committee Member, Math Club, Women in Science and Engineering, Random Acts of Kindness, Art Club, pioneered the Writing Center at my home high school, and French Club.

Lots of Volunteering…like LOTS (I guess the most prominent one would be the NCSSM World Record Food Drive)

Also helped Chinese immigrant students adjust and learn English

Resume had lots of my technology skills and some work experience too

Personally I may not be the best from the Academic standpoint, but I feel like my other stuff compensates for that

I’m a first generation Asian, and my parents never graduated from high school. I was really passionate in both of my essays, and I’m glad my personality has gotten to them. ^_^

I’m definitely attending, and I totally can’t wait! :D

I think one important lesson here for future applicants is to realize that SAMS does not weigh test scores very heavily at all, it seems–diversity and especially need was the impression I got from the rejection letter.
