San Diego State rated #1 party school.

its only a problem for those who need their "girfriends" to be drunk or otherwise lacking in judgement before they will have sex with them

More about girls getting wasted at ASU.

Marshall (or is it Morgan?) Spurlock, the guy who did the 'Super Size Me' movie had a TV show on one of the cable channels this summer (it may still be on) called '30 Days.' The premise: they follow someone around with a video camera for 30 days . One episode was about a mother who was concerned about her freshman daughter--at ASU--who was binge drinking.

Basically, this 18 or 19 yr old freshman was pre-gaming and then going out to drink at bars and frat houses and apartments (lots and lots of students live in apts at ASU). She was getting absolutely BLOTTO and, pehaps, unconscious (she owuld talk about it on camera) something like 5 X a week. Though this followed just the one girl, we saw lots of others on camera. It was sad, disgusting and ABSURD. What happens to a pretty girl who goes to a party and passes out? We can all guess.

The point is: partying is one thing. Blacking out--and repeatedly--is another. This is a scary trend that goes well beyond partying and is firmly rooted in illness and dysfunction.

I repeat: this is not partying. This is scary and tragic.

Im hoping that sdsu lives up to its party-go-wild reputation when i head there next week.
Are most clubs 21+? Im 20 unfortunalty, it sucks that you have to be an elderly to be allowed into the clubs in the US.
Whats the go with frat parties? Do i need to join a sorority to go to those parties? And is there an age requirment?

Iv heard nothing about the dorms. I think im in one called Zura... what sort of reputation does that dorm have?

I cant believe how common it is for students to drink above the limit every thurs, fri and sat night. Im stressing that i have to take 4 classes at SDSU- im thinking i wont have time to scratch my head.
I saw that show 30 days where some bimbo. binge drank everynight till she passed out. She has obviously killed all her brain cells off with the amount of alcohol she has consumed...
I cant believe how her mother tolerated her immature behaivour too.

I read something about partying in the dorms - i like to have a good time. But i also like to study and get good grades... I hope that the dorms wont have an effect on my grades...

It apparently takes more than just a porn movie to develop a lasting party school reputation. UCSD had a porn movie scandal a while ago where a student not only filmed and starred in his own porn movie but also aired it on the UCSD student TV station:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9838734/

Yet despite these misadventures, UCSD retains its reputation as a no-fun place for serious scholars.

The first most of us at UCSD heard about the porn was...on the news. Most people really didn't care, considering that ~65% live off campus and it was only shown on campus stations. Probably a big reason why it didn't change UCSD's rep ;).

:)

My sister was at SDSU in the 80's. Yep, check, major party school.

EK that sounds like Burning Man.

UGA is getting better. Still some major parties, but the kids at the top are serious about school.
