San Diego State

I know that all majors at San Diego are impacted, but are there any certain ones that are not? What is good major to pick that will help me get accepted?

Yes, all majors at SDSU are impacted meaning there are more qualified applicants than spots available. If you are asking, are there some majors which are an easier admits than others, the answer is yes. You can check the link provided which shows how many students applied for each major, how many were accepted and how many matriculated to SDSU. I will however caution you in trying to use what many people refer to as the “back door” in getting accepted. Highly competitive majors may be difficult to impossible to transfer into later on, so just giving you warning if you plan to go that route.

As a rule of thumb, an EI of 4100+ is competitive for SDSU and the more competitive the major the higher the EI required for example, Nursing would be around 4300+. Can you get accepted with a lower EI, yes you can, but it depends upon how competitive the applicant pool for this year will be.

As @Gumbymom has stated: trying to get into SDSU with a less-impacted major will not work if you try to change majors. The university knows that trick.

People do change majors but usually it is within the same school (Business to Business) and/or is known to the department chair. Some prerequisites for certain departments are only open to students within the major. Everything requires department approval.

If you go in trying to get major requirements completed for another major (say your major is “religious studies” but you want to take courses in engineering), the computer will block out your attempts to get in.
