I am a sophomore, male, CAP transfer from UTSA. I was offered an on-campus housing contract, and my application date is my original date from 2011, so I am hopeful I should get my first preference of dorms. I have narrowed my choices down to the above 3. San Jac is appealing because of the newness of the dorm, and the private baths. However, I have heard that it is quiet and has a lot of rules. Jester East has appeal because it sounds more social and has been renovated but it sounds like it is more freshman oriented. Moore Hill sounds like a good mix of the two with more upper-classmen but it is older and also sounds more quiet. I am looking for a good mix of social, as I want to meet people, and have a nicer place to stay. I'm leaning towards San Jac, but want to be assured that it does have activities and I can meet people. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Whatever you do, do not stay in Creekside. It has 0 of the features you want. It would be better to stay in an apartment.

Sophomore here as well, and my friend lived in San Jac last year, loved it, and is living there again this year. Personally, I’d go for San Jac because it has the largest and nicest rooms with the private bath, has cypress downstairs, is close to J2, the gym, and PCL. Honestly San Jac is more quiet and less social than Jester East, but really when you’re trying to sleep and study, that’s ideal. They do have some social activities but relying on where you live to meet people isn’t the best way (people don’t hang out or party in dorms they do it in west campus/somewhere else): you should join clubs and form study groups. Btw San Jac has the hill so be prepared to get some killer calf muscles walking up and down that thing everyday.

Jester East is very nice as well and it’s not a bad choice. Central location, more social, but has community baths. It’s just hella awkward when you’re showering and people are doing their business 10 feet away from you…and shower flip flops get annoying really quickly.
