San Jacinto Dorm Chance

Hello, I'll be attending UT Austin next fall as an incoming freshman with college hours.
I've been accepted to my chosen college and major as well as sent in my housing contract and like most my first dorm choice is San Jac. I turned in my housing application (the $50 form) on October 15th. Is that date early enough for a San Jac room or should I aim my sights a little lower?
Thanks for any and all input!

I’ve been accepted also but haven’t done anything about dorms for next year - are the dorms first come or lottery?

If you want to live on campus, you better do something asap. My S got in a couple of weeks ago and into the LHC. I asked about living in the honors dorms and they told me that Jan was kind of late to get your dorm stuff in and that we had to do it asap. It is not a lottery; it is first come.

My S is a freshman. He paid his housing deposit at the end of Oct and got his first choice of dorm-San Jac.
The housing preference is based on the date you pay your non-refundable deposit. So do it ASAP if you want to live on campus.

Thanks! I got into McCombs in mid-November, but was awaiting BHP notice which I just received.

Do they go by when you pay the first $50 or the second $300 deposit?

the first $50

@sunnydayfun, how did your S get notified of his dorm assignment already? Is it because he’s a freshman there now?

Congrats to all the new Longhorns! :)

My son put down the $50 deposit at end of Oct HS senior year, turned in the contract in Spring and received the notice of dorm assignment in mid-July. He is there now at San Jacinto.

Oh ok you were saying what happened last year, thought you meant that he already got his assignment for the upcoming school year somehow!
