San Jose State Class of 2023 - Applicant Thread

@randomebrunette: I would call admissions to confirm to ease your mind.

Accepted Civil Engineering. 4.0 UW / 4.2 W (don’t know CSU gpa), 34 ACT / 35 superscored

EDIT: don’t know if this helps but im In-State

Is there a way I can switch my major BEFORE I attend in the fall or would I have to switch after I start classes?

@thetwixbar I’m tryna do the same lmk if you find out

@madeinthebay you too

@thetwixbar:

From the SJSU website:

We encourage you to apply for the major in which you intend to earn a degree. Change of major is prohibited during the application and admission process. After you are admitted, change of major is never guaranteed and is by petition only. Your mandatory orientation, advising and registration will all be based on your choice of major.

Any ideal which if any alternative majors they will admit students if space is available? And if there is space available what is the criteria used (highest EI)?

How would you petition to change a major? Is there a form I have to fill out?

@thetwitbar: Remember you will have to enroll and attend orientation for your current/accepted major. I would talk with your orientation advisor on your plan to change majors and what is required to complete the change. Also depending upon which major you intend to change into, there may be course/GPA requirements and many changes are not guaranteed. If you have a direct admit into your preferred major at another school, I would consider attending there if possible.

Here is the change of major form: http://www.sjsu.edu/registrar/docs/Major_Minor_Less_than_90.pdf

@lakerstype: I would assume the highly competitive majors such as Engineering/CS/SE/Nursing etc… would not have any available spots as an alternate major but I would contact admissions to get your questions answered since they are the only ones that can tell you how decisions are made and they will have data from past years.

GPA: 3.23
SAT: 1120
I was accepted yesterday. Really excited as it is the first out of four CSU’s to hear back from.

If you got provisionally accepted but under the EI, then you’ll get denied?

A question for all…what are your thoughts?

Animiation/Illustration major with an EI of 4388 (4300 is the threshold) But still says “decision pending”.

Given that it seems so many people have heard that they have been accepted…do you think this means she didn’t get in?

If you haven’t heard back yet, does that mean they will admit you to your alternate major?

I just got admitted today, but I didn’t receive any message. I am not sure which major I got in…

got in my stats 3.4 csu gpa and 1200 SAT

Son just got the “Admit by Self-Reported Data-F” status message this morning. Not sure if he got into his first or second choice for major (Environmental Studies or Geography) as his EI is 3500. No email or other message to confirm yet. Still very happy he got in. Now still waiting on CPP, CSULA, CSUN and CSUSM.

Son got official message/letter on portal that he was admitted to his alternative major (Geography). This more affordable than ASU which he got into for Urban Planning (great program just don’t want to pay out of state). I’m pretty hyped for him on SJSU. Now waiting on the other CSUs

I’m still not able to accept/decline admission, I guess I’m gonna have to wait until mid march?
