San Jose State University Class of 2019 Decisions Thread

uc alumnus: thanks for your information. It is very helpful.
gumbymom: I was shocked because of the low rate of admittance from 64% to 14.13%. I had expected an increasing number of applicants but estimated a decreased rate of acceptance about 40% only. I am a SJSU alumni. I love my school and very proud of all of you who have been accepted. Hope that I answer your question.

The admittance rate did not decrease by that much though. As uc alumnus explained, there is a difference between the admittance rate and the yield rate(percentage of applicants that end up attending).

Sorry! You are right, I have compared apples to oranges. We do not know the rate of admittance until the data is released. Thank you all for being patient with me. Below is my son’ s data for Cal State. He is still waiting for Cal Poly.

Weighted GPA: 3.78
SAT: CR: 640, Math: 770
Major: IT/Network

@AveMaria15: After I posted, I realized what you meant, unforunately you cannot delete the post. I know what you mean. I went to Cal Poly Pomona. If you had over a 3.0, CPP that didn’t care what score you got on the SAT for admissions. Of course, that was back in the dark ages.

If the weighted GPA is based on the CSU weighting, that gives an eligibility index of 4434. http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/admission/rec-10079.12651.html indicates that, for fall 2015, this is sufficient for admission to any major at SJSU (the most selective major was computer science with a threshold of 4300).

Thanks ucbalumnus for the info. Gumbymom, it is ok. Waiting for the college app results really put a toll on me. I had collected too many data including how to calculate the MCA scores from cal Poly SLO. My head has too many numbers that someday I could not even finish the easy sudoku :slight_smile:.

A few months ago, my son was invited to apply for the Kellogg Honor College from Cal Poly Pomona. We had booked hotel for our Excellence Show Case visit. Then he fell and broke his wrist while playing basketball. He had just finished 3 out 4 essays (1500/2000 words) and done collecting 2 recommendation letters, one from hi school, the other his volunteer place. He had passed bilingual test and has volunteered to teach 1st grade kids at a language center. He decided to stop the application to focus on the surgery and healing so he can graduate hi school and we had to cancel the trip. He is fine now and I am so thankful. He is also waiting for UC results next week. He also applied for UC Santa Cruz and Irvine. Thanks all for your support and again for being patient with me!

I got accepted a while back. I really did not expect it.

@metalmonk28‌

Congratulations! He has not made up his mind yet. He wants to apply for scholarships first. We are from North Cal and he is very interested in CPP. Do you also apply to CPP and UCI?

I got accepted way back in February! I would’ve posted sooner if I knew there was a thread for SJSU.
