Santa Barbara City College Fall 2015/ Tropicana Gardens Living

Im probably going to be attending sbcc for the fall as a freshman and wanted to know what it was like and how the atmosphere is? Im from Northern California and was also wondering how living at the Tropicana Gardens was and where some other out of town freshmen were planning on staying while attending sbcc. I want feedback on Tropicana Gardens I’ve heard both good and bad things about it.

I’m planning on staying at Tropicana Gardens, I applied for my a spot yesterday. If you haven’t already, youtube tropicana gardens and a really cool and inspiring video comes up. … LIke me i also wanted to have the “college experience” .

I think living at Tropicana Gardens would be the best thing to do as it’s in IV so we can also mingle with UCSB students and the atmosphere would be pretty cool… It’s only 25 mins from campus, not too bad. I live in Hong Kong and I’m American and I’m coming to SBCC because I unfortunately didnt get into any of my uni’s… California is just so competitive now :frowning: Oh well! I’m planning to transfer to UCSB which will be awesome.

Hi! okay before deciding any further on tropicana PLEASE go to this link http://www.yelp.com/biz/tropicana-gardens-goleta and scroll towards the bottom, right above “From the Business” you will see “50 other reviews that are not currently recommended” in grey writing, click on it and read them. Take in to account what everyone is saying and how all the worst reviews are filtered out (uhh sketchy) It seems it is a toooon of money, food sucks, residents are unhappy, and so much more! Please take this into account! Also try looking up apartments on the SBCC website under housing that are close to sbcc! I’ll be attending there next fall as well and I was strongly considering tropicana, until recently when I did more extensive research, and reached out to some past residents. I am now currently looking for apartments/housing near campus with other Sbcc students(: I hope this helped!

Thank You so much for that! What living places are you looking at?

Sorry for the late response! But I’m currently looking at an apartment with a few other girls(: They have a housing list on the sbcc website with people looking for roommates! That way you still get to live with people, make friends, live away from home, and get the college experience with way more room than a dorm offers! haha But I think that’ll be the best bet, plus its a lot cheaper than tropicana!
