Santa Barbara City College vs Santa Monica College

Hey everyone, I have been thinking these two colleges. Have you been there or what do you know and think? Are there big differences between them? How about social life and people in general? Are there any differences between students ages?

Tuition and fees are pretty much the same and majors as well. I have read that SMC is a good choice if you’re thinking about transferring to UCLA and USC etc. but I guess it mostly depends on yourself. Any advice is welcome!

SMC is the best collage for the purpose of transfering to UCLA and perhaps to USC.

@uclaparent9 Except that the parking situation at SMC is out of control

SBCC (and UCSB) is way too much for me when it comes to partying (and I love to drink). If I were you I’d pick SMC

SBCC is an awesome option for those that want a 4-year college experience. There are private dorms in Isla Vista (the college town connected to UCSB), so you can live in a dorm with UCSB/SBCC students, and get that true college experience. I suggest you visit Isla Vista and get a feel for the college town. @philbegas There are plenty of non-partiers in Isla Vista. IV is a social, fun college town, but certainly offers something for everyone

Isla Vista is what I really dislike about Santa Barbara. I agree that you can find something else for yourself besides partying but Isla Vista is known as (and lives up to its rep as) a huge party town.
