It is very interesting and somewhat frustrating that we are getting different messages. I checked the EA thread for Class of 2018 and they found out on 12/17. It appears they found out on the portal first, which means there isn’t a clear pattern. Oh well, we will keep stalking the mailman and checking the portal.
@CADREAMIN Thank you for giving us hope, although I’m surprised to hear that admissions offices would “say many things to get you off the phone.” I would think they would want to be straight up with us. And I agree with you about letting our kids find out first - this is their time to shine!
Hey @msdarcy, what I meant is that if they tell you it is coming Tuesday and your mail is personally delayed, lost or other reasons out of their control people will have a fit and say “You said it was coming Tuesday or early this week!” Proceeded by yelling… They also understand the emotional turmoil people go through at this time - they don’t want to make it worse. So if they are going out in the next couple days, I would expect them to say they would be arriving in the next week or two in order to cushion expectations, and account for rural and international mail services. I didn’t mean to say admissions is deceptive or unhelpful and maybe it sounded that way (sorry writing late at night). What is great about SCU is they answer the phone with a real live person in virtually all departments! No 20 minute hold times! And you feel like they care about your student, you aren’t just one of 40,000.
I wouldn’t have expected anything today based on last year, I would look for local people to see it on Monday (again only if they follow last year - don’t count on it, just hope it comes then). Best guess folks, but that’s all it is
Do you have the name of the representative you spoke with on the phone? You could send them an email to get a more detailed answer, or email one of the admission counselors, their information is on the SCU website.
The admission counselors do not set a hard date for the release of decisions so they have a little flexibility with time to make sure everything is correct and everyone is accounted for before making the decisions public. Last year I believe they sent out decisions on the 15th or 16th of December, but as the number of applications to SCU keeps increasing, they may need a little more time this year to finish everything up.
The last I talked to an admission counselor about the decision date, she said mid-December, so that really could be anytime soon, just keep an eye out for it on ecampus!
lol, if you are asking not only what day, but whether it is morning or mid day, you need to relax and find something to do, like study for finals and keep those senior year grades up No one on here knows for sure, we are all just doing our best to estimate based on last year and perhaps a bit of insider info now and then.
