I cannot believe this. I just got off the phone with the admissions office. Here’s how the conversation went:
Me: “I’m calling to find out when EA results will be available.”
Rep: “Oh, we’re wrapping things up. Not for another 1 1/2 weeks.”
Me: “WHAT?!! Another 1 1/2 weeks?!!”
Rep: “Yeah, we’re still working on figuring out the cutoffs.” (or something to that effect…my head was spinning.) “Also, we’re figuring out packages.”
Me: “Wait, are you talking about financial aid awards or acceptances?”
Rep: “Both. They go out at the same time.”
Me: “By mail or by portal?”
Rep: “Both.”
Me: “But which comes first?”
Rep: “Portal, of course.”
Me: (stammering)…uh okay, well…bye.
@vschuSCU - would you mind confirming if this is accurate information or not? 1 1/2 weeks puts it right before Christmas.
Not sure if anyone saw my post on the previous page about my call to the admissions office. Would someone be willing to call them too and see if they get a different answer?
@upennpal, @msdarcy I was told by the Admissions office earlier this month that ED decisions will come out around "mid-december"in the portal, but that 2 days before that, they will mail the letters. But, I only asked about ED not EA. Now I wonder if the same delay applys to ED… I will call again on both.
Relax and good luck to all, I think you will know by 15th. Admissions offices will say many things to get you off the phone, if they say a week and it comes earlier, all is forgiven, forgotten and everyone is happy they are out. Parents, just a suggestion - let your student check the portal and/or mailboxes, as hard as it is to refrain, this is their time and should be their moment. Let them be able to share the news with you, not the other way around. It is a moment you won’t forget if you let them come in beaming with THEIR good news. And if you peek before, just don’t let on or tell them
@jmajor62614 Sorry, logging on late tonight and just saw your email back a few pages. Acceptance letter was dated the 12th, received it on the 13th, ahead of the portal update on the 15th, but we are in Bay Area. Merit award was updated on portal on the 19th (I have email on that).
My mom works in the IT department at SCU, and I applied Early Decision. She says that admissions have already pretty much been finalized, and they will release them on the 15th (online I’m pretty sure). Good luck!
Is anyone in this thread who is applying EA/ED in the Bay Area? People near Santa Clara will get their letters first, so we can be alerted when the decisions are sent out.
Hmm possibly. I applied EA so that could be why I haven’t received anything. I called SCU yesterday and they told me that decisions would be mailed by late next week or the week after that, but based on Class of 2019’s thread, we should be notified by early next week.
