Santa Clara Honors Program and Merit Aid

DD was accepted in the early app process and today she found out she got into the Honors Program. We are very excited about that, but she needs about $20K in Merit money to even be able to consider the possibility (she has received two full tuition merit offers from other schools that are as good as SCU.)

Do you think there is any chance of getting that much merit? She received a small Dean's scholarship with Admission, but nowhere near $20K, and certainly nowhere near the $30K+ she has received from these other two schools. However, she loves the possibility of Santa Clara, so, if there is any chance of her going there, we want to try to figure it out.

Any suggestions?

Didn’t you receive your entire FA package after she was accepted EA? My son received his around the time of admission. I wouldn’t expect any more money to be offered unless you approached them directly to see if they were willing to match your D’s other offers.

I guess that is my question: should we even try to get them to increase what they have offered? Has anyone had any luck with that?

Thank you.
Marie

We talked to them when DD was accepted. They were able to add a work study award and a Perkins loan to her package. They did not increase her grant money. BUT our daughter was not accepted with distinction or into the honors program. I’d try…good luck. It’s a great school and our daughter got an excellent education there.
