Santa Clara University EA class of 2022!

PS I should have added she didn’t get anything at all in the mail from SCU yet.

@texbritmom Congratulations!! I heard back about financial aid 2 days after my acceptance in mid December. I found the information in the financial aid section of the portal. I was personally very pleased with the money offered…good luck to you and your daughter!

Oh thank you. I’ll have her look there. We had the idea for some reason that something was going to come snail
mail.

My D got her package via portal as well the day after acceptance. It was enough to make it a real possibility to attend!

So she looked, it was there, and she was offered $4k in loans. We’re pretty bemused. This was her safety, although we thought it was a great option, and she’s doing far better with a lot of merit money at schools with higher numbers. Of course we all know these college outcomes often defy our understanding:-) So SCU is definitely off her list. Enjoy and flourish if you will be going there!

Has anyone heard about merit scholarships, not financial? They said merit would be announced on our portal but i havent heard anything, wondering if that means i didnt get any.

@ldew123 My merit scholarship was posted the day after my acceptance under the financial aid tab, in the award summary section.

Let’s start a GroupMe or something for admitted students!

Hi guys. I’m currently a student at SCU. I’m in the school of engineering so if any of you have any questions message me on CC I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

@texbritmom only received 7.5K a year, whereas much higher ranking schools have offered more than 25K. I heard of somebody who has given a $400 “scholarship” for book, supplies etc. Hard to figure out…

SCU is not known for being generous with merit, that’s for sure. What you experienced @chrys1 seems pretty common, 25K or a nearly full tuition to another comparable school, while SCU provides 6k, or the funny book “scholarship.” A friend’s daughter received the $500 for books and she thought that was more insulting than getting nothing would have been. So I hear ya. They have the Johnson Scholarship, but a very small amount of them. Not sure if it’s location, the solid rep of the engineering and business, the fact a lot of people can/will spend 65K a year, or they give money elsewhere - to community etc., but ya, a lot of people are surprised at the low number they receive.

My DS got accepted to business school:

EA, 1530 SAT, 36 ACT, 3.8/4.4 (GPA), 9 APs (all 5’s).

Offered $5k/yr. Not enough for us to even consider. Waiting for others.
