Just in case I do not get accepted to UF as an incoming freshman, I am going to apply to Santa Fe and go there for a year or two and then try and transfer into UF. But how hard is it to do that? Does UF normally accept transfer students from Santa Fe? I’m scared to go to Santa Fe and then UF never accepts me as a transfer student. If I go to Santa Fe and do well, like if I get between 3.4-3.7 gpa at Santa Fe, what would my chances be of getting accepted into UF?

Hi!

Each year, UF accepts a large number of transfer students from local Florida CC’s, including Santa Fe. About a 1/3 of all Juniors/Seniors are transfer students. You would need to met the transfer requirements:

A couple of items to note.

UF only accepts Junior/Senior-Level Transfers. You’ll need at least 60 credits, before being able to apply to UF (unless you’re applying to UF On-line).

You have to apply to your major. Each major may have different requirements. Also, some majors are much more competitive than others. The selection process can be extremely competitive. A 3.4 to 3.7 GPA would be competitive for most majors.

A few majors may not be open to transfer students. For example, most transfer students to the Heavener School of Business are limited to the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (BABA) – General Studies program. Do the research on your major to make sure it’s not a limited access program.

UF does have an engineering program that allows students to take the first year at Santa Fe, before moving to UF (this is an exception to the normal transfer process). I know of several folks that got into UF via this path.
