Dear Office Of Scholarships and Financial Aid,
My name is Jane Doe and I would greatly appreciate you taking the time to review this letter of appeal.
I aknowledege and take full responsiblity of my failures during the my first year at Northern Virgina Community College. After graduating High School my family moved from Arlington to Springfield and later to Woodbridge due to the fact that we could no longer afford to live there. This effected me because I first did not know which campus to apply to and definatly became a stress factor. I then came to discover that I was not fully prepared for College. Unlike High School my education was in my own hands and I was responsible for making sure I completed work. I failed to turn assignements on time and did not take studying seriously and as a result failed most tests and exams. Seeing that I had started off doing poorly effected my motivation to continue. I then started working part time while still enrolled in school as a Dental assistant.I found that I could not manage my time wisely. ( Add in impacted classes) I then took the job full time and decided to work instead of continuing my studies. This was all very immature of me. Instead of applying myself and taking the challenge I ran away from the responsiblity.
Although my family continues to rent and our home is not neccisarly perminate, today I understand and do not allow this fact of life to cause me to be discouraged. I have stopped working because I found it to be one of the biggest distractions. I also realized that it is not where I want to stay and in order for me to reach my goal of being a conselor I need a degree. I have registered for an ITE class begining on 09/08/15, and will be paying for it myself if neccesary. In order to improve I will follow each class syllabus and adhear to all due dates and deadlines for assignments. If I do not understand a topic we are studying or have questions on assignments I will not hesistate to ask and visit professors during office hours.
