So I just got informed that I my financial aid is suspended and I have to write an appeal. I was diagnosed with Major depressive disorder which lead me to quit being a ncaa athlete and also working part time. Is this a reason for them to appeal the decision and does being an athlete for two years help?
The only way your appeal will be approved is if you not only show what contributed to the issues, but what you have done and are doing so that you will be successful in school. You have told us what led to the issues. What have you done to change things? Are you in counseling? Does your counselor feel you are ready to return to school and be successful at this time? If you believe you are ready to be successful, explain that in your appeal letter - what you have done, what you are doing, what you will continue to do. Meet with an academic advisor to develop an academic plan. Best to you.
My school is currently closed for winter break. But I went to see a counselor at school before the school closed and have a meeting set up with my academic advisor. I have proof of my diagnosis and of my medications that I’ve started. I wrote a draft and explained how I will start meeting with student tutors available at school as well as seeing my professors for extra help. I’m just at a rock bottom right now and I’m unsure of what else I can do to afford school or if it’s worth even going back. I want to be successful, but I feel like not having financial aid will just make me even more stressed out.
