SAP appeal approval

I just ended my first year of college a few weeks ago. Nobody in my family has completed college so I was going in blind. I have been notified that I am on SAP Suspension because of not beating the time frame of 67%. Fall 2016 semester I withdrew from 2 classes but kept 3 and spring 2017 I did the same. I withdrew from these classes not knowing how much it was gonna affected my college career. Without financial aid I can’t afford college at all. Especially not with my moms income considering she is on social security disability. I thought that withdrawing would be better than not passing the classes but I was dead wrong. I don’t know what to . My advisor told me when I go to make my appeal my GPA was good and that should help, but I don’t want know if I have enough to make a good appeal.

My question I want answered is do I have any chance of approval?

What were the reasons for dropping your classes?
What is your plan going forward

When I say two classes i mean that it was math, but it considered 2 classes because it has a lab. I dropped the classes fall 2016 because I wasnt doing well and then my grandma died. I have her obituary stating my name (can I use that as an extenuating circumstance?) and then for the classes spring 2017 I dropped again because I was scared I wasn’t gonna pass. I caught the flu (also have paper from doctor stating I had the flu and was to be out of class) and was out for a week and ended up missing a test I couldn’t make up. My plan going forward is to stay informed on policy’s. I plan on taking tutoring to help better my knowledge and If accepted I will make my academics my main focus. I have since quit working to am going to try and focus more on school. I know what I did was a mistake and I am devastated I did this to myself.

Yes, you should submit an appeal. Some students here have been successful. Your more general problem is that your financial aid is limited to a certain amount of semesters and at your slow pace, you will run out of money before you complete your degree. You have to maintain full time status each semester.

My only extenuating circumstance as to why I withdrew these classes is that during fall semester I was falling behind and then my grandma died and for spring semester I caught the flu and was out of class for a week causing me to miss a test that I couldn’t make up.

It is unlikely that your instructor would have refused to work with you over the missed exam if you had a doctor’s note and you notified the instructor before the exam or on the same day. What efforts did you make to follow through on that? What advice did your advisor give you? Your excuses are not that strong (and the flu story/no way to make up the test) won’t make much sense to the committee. But you should submit an appeal as you have nothing to lose.

Ask the FA officer at your school how many credits you would have to take at a community college during the summer to regain SAP. I’m guessing at least 6 and you would have to pass them, and pay for them yourself.

Also find out if the cc classes would count towards your major and be accepted for credit.
