I think that swimcatsmom has already responded to a similar question of mine regarding the SAR. But for those new to my problem:

I submitted the FAFSA. I am encountering a family problem that is delaying my SAR from getting sent. So, my colleges have not received the SAR yet. Is this a problem/is it too late to send in my SAR when I am eventually able to? Will I still be considered for financial aid if my colleges have only received the FAFSA and not the SAR?

I hate this. The mess with my SAR is that one of my parent's Social security info isn't legit. Well, CCers can't help me there. I just hope that I am still able to be considered for FAFSA if I didn't use the SAR to submit the corrections.

I am not sure I understand what you mean. The SAR is the report generated by FAFSA and is what the school receives.

The FAFSA is the form you fill out with your personal data & financial info. That data is analyzed & an EFC is generated. The EFC is sent to the student along with some comments from the processor on a SAR (Student Aid Report). The EFC is sent to the schools through an ISIR. The SAR & ISIR contain similar info (although the ISIR is a bit more detailed in terms of info used by the school).

Certain errors on the FAFSA will prevent the calculation of an EFC. In such a case, a rejected SAR will create. Until the info that is causing the problem can be resolved, the SAR remains in reject status. I am guessing your parent's SSN must be fixed - if you provide the correct SSN, the info should process & you will get a good EFC. In this case, you should contact the school & explain the situation. They may want you to make the correction in a certain way.
